Description
You don't see this original gatefold album offered very often and when you do... they sell immediately. This album is mega-rare to find in the original, sealed, 1975 first pressing state. You are looking at a sealed album of an earlier Elton John masterpiece album entitled, "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy". This album is now 43 years old and is the original 1975 release on MCA Records- in EX- condition overall .
Tight shrink wrap all around all corners and all but the bottom right corner are still covered with tight shrink, the bottom right corner just having about a 3/4" break at the tip with minimal surface rub in that area (very common for this gatefold LP, as it is loaded inside with a lyric booklet, photo booklet, merchandise pamphlet, inner liner and the album itself.
There is a push to the upper left corner and the bottom right corner, both about 1/2" inward and 1" diagonal where the sides meet. Nothing bad, but needs to be mentioned - especially for the very picky collectors who want everything identified. There is a small 3/4" minor shrink break on the mouth about 1/3 the way down. All of these items I have mentioned are displayed clearly in the photos for added description and clarity. There is a tiny 1/2" long seam crack that is on the top seam (most likely from sealed pressure over the years of such a thick package). The original Caldor sticker is on back cover with an "F" price code affixed.
Overall I grade this outer sealed cover at Excellent- and that is still a very nice sealed, extremely hard-to find, gatefold album of Elton John during his magnificent run of masterpiece albums from 1970-1975. This LP is ranked #158 by Rolling Stone of the 500 greatest albums of all-time.
This is such a rare find that I am offering from my personal collection. It is not a NM copy, true, but it is a gorgeous excellent sealed LP that would be NM if not for two very minor corner pushes and a tiny seam crack on top seam that have been described in detail and through photos. Don't miss out as I promise this one will NOT last long online.
