Up for auction is an incredibly rare copy of Sam & Dave's debut album "Hold On, I'm Comin'" released on STAX Records in 1966. Most of the copies you will see are Stereo versions. This album was originally recorded in mono, then reprocessed for stereo pressings. So the mono pressings are much more preferable as the sound is unprocessed, full-bodied, and clear. This copy is, of course, an original MONO pressing, first pressing with deep groove labels on both sides. Not only that, it comes in its original opened shrink wrap. But here's the best part--it's in unbelievably beautiful condition. The cover is bright, clean, and untouched with no visible blemishes or detractions. Corners are sharp and un-bumped. Seams are perfect, no splits. No evidence of age discoloration. The back cover is beautiful, bone-white, unmarked, no ring wear anywhere. This is as nice as it gets. Call it Near Mint. The vinyl is equally beautiful. Retains its original high gloss luster. No scratches or scuffs. No marks around the spindle holes. Really shows virtually no signs of previous handling or use. I wouldn't be surprised if this record had been played maybe once. Super clean vinyl. Call it Near Mint. Overall, this is the nicest original mono copy of this record that I have ever seen in 30 years of collecting. People pay good money for inferior stereo copies of this LP, and this one is rarer than all of them. A real beauty for the serious collector.
