The Salt City Six PLAYS THE CLASSICS IN DIXIELAND - Athena Pressing of Audiophile AP-80 - ALSS-10005 - TAS - QUITE INCREDIBLE! - Factory Sealed
One of the hardest-to-find discs on the TAS list, this is indeed the stuff of Gold Label Audiophile AP-80, featuring The Salt City Six, but re-mastered by Athena from the original tapes, then pressed on heavy vinyl.
Note, too, this is an original Ewing Nunn recording. And so, it utilizes custom made microphones and mic pre-amps, all keenly applied by one of the finest recordists of the last century, if not the best.
That said, do plan on attending the main ballroom of the Penn Sheraton Hotel in Pittsburgh, where Mr. Nunn will unfailingly take you.
And, in that, don't just expect Dixieland from this album. Nope. As this six man ensemble is going to deliver the WILLIAM TELL OVERTURE, GRANADA, EL CAPITAN (which is great), AH, SO PURE, and NEW ORLEANS like you've never heard before. I mean...cooking!
This way-fun album is unquestionably a classic in vinyl literature, and this, I dare say, is its finest incarnation, factory sealed, and ready for your listening room.
