Description
Well here it is, a rare Elvis Sample pressing. I have seen the rare stamped ones but only have seen one other of these years ago and didn't realize its rarity. Selling well below its value.
A regular copy books at $6,000 which in real money is about less than half that. Sample and some promo copies book around 2 -3 times the book value. Elvis Sun 209 has been sold for up to $17,000 for a pristine copy. So much for the book value..as you can see it is just a guideline. One also sold for $10,000 from Sam Phillips personal collection and "yours truly" was one of the bidders...I came close and that was several years ago.
I have owned several copies of these over the years so I am familiar with these.
It has the pushmarks, U- 128-45 72 and U-129-45 72 etchings and has the great Memphis Sun hiss. Plays through smooth otherwise, no skips.
I ran my fingertip test gently over the play area and it is smooth as a baby behind. There are visible rubs and scuffs but not feelable or audible. NO scratches. I define that as anything felt, heard or seen.
authentic thick and straight disc with thick labels
strong VG , plays strong and super rare
clean brown paper sleeve

Record grading guided by Goldmine (graded in light):
MINT: No scuffs, scratches, blotches, stains, labels, writing, tears or splits. Simply perfect.
NEAR MINT (NM): A Record that may have one or two tiny, minor flaws such as light paper scuffs from sliding in and out of the sleeves that do not affect play.
EXCELLENT (EX or VG+): A Record has been handled and played either very little or very carefully. The vinyl may have lost some but not all of it's original luster or have a slight scratch that doesn't affect play.
VERY GOOD (VG): A Record that displays visible signs of handling and playing such as loss of vinyl luster, light surface scratches, groove wear and spindle trails. A VG record may look like it will have some audible surface noise when it is played, although any noise should not overwhelm the music or ruin the listening experience.
GOOD (G): The Record is well played, with any number of defects such as complete loss of surface sheen, obvious surface noise, etc.
I have many more from Rock to Jazz to Metal to Doo Wop, to Psyche, etc.
Please check my other auctions and store. MORE to come!!
Thanks and good luck!
