A strong collector copy of Rainbow Rising, one of the essential hard rock and early heavy metal albums of the 1970s. This West German pressing on Oyster/Polydor features the striking classic cover artwork and orange Polydor labels. The vinyl has a lovely glossy finish and, from your notes and the photos provided, shows no obvious marks or scratches. Playback is described as having almost no surface noise, making this a very appealing copy for both collectors and regular listeners.

Sleeve: Excellent
Front cover presents very well with strong colour and clean spine presence overall. Light edge and corner wear visible, with a few small laminate stress lines/handling marks consistent with age. Back cover remains clean and sharp. A solid EX sleeve overall.

Rainbow were one of the defining bands of 1970s hard rock, formed by guitarist Ritchie Blackmore after leaving Deep Purple. Rising is widely regarded as the band’s masterpiece and one of the most influential heavy rock albums ever released. With Ronnie James Dio on vocals, the album blends huge riffs, fantasy lyricism, powerful melodic hooks and a darker, more dramatic atmosphere than many of its contemporaries. Tracks such as Stargazer and A Light In The Black helped set the template for later heavy metal, power metal and neoclassical hard rock. For many collectors, this is the Rainbow album to own.
Ronnie James Dio delivers one of the great vocal performances of the era, while Blackmore’s guitar work is fiery and inventive throughout. The rhythm section of Jimmy Bain and Cozy Powell gives the record its enormous weight and drive, and Tony Carey’s keyboards add scale and mood. Rising is a landmark album that sits comfortably alongside the best work by Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, and original European pressings remain highly desirable with rock vinyl collectors.
