Description

You are bidding on a rare, original, punk psych garage rock, 45 rpm record by Rusty Samarco, "Climb The Sky", and, "Know That I Need You", from Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey, on the Samarco Records label, Stereo #520539-7.  This record was produced in Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey.  Both label sides state, "SAMARCO Records Box 225  Lake Hiawath, N.J."  The blue labels with silver print are in good plus to very good minus condition with light surface wear and some inner circle wear, a little more so on the "Climb The Sky" side.  There is some small writing on the "Climb The Sky" side label (see photo)-the writing is the name, "RUSS", so who knows?  Perhaps this was Rusty Samarco's personal copy!!  The vinyl is in good plus, if not better, condition, with some very light, and light, scratching.  The vinyl gloss is nice and shiny.  I played both side through and the sound was good.  This is a 10-day, no reserve auction.  PLEASE NOTE DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL BUYERS:  Priority mail, delivery confirmation, and signature confirmation, will be required for this auction.  I will take the record to the Post Office, after the auction is over, and have the package weighed.   I will then send the correct invoice with the exact postage amount.  The stated postage price is only an estimate.  The price will be raised post-auction.  Please wait for the invoice.  You will pay only the exact amount for priority mail, delivery confirmation, and signature confirmation.  Thank you.  Please see more information below.

Know That I Need You

And saving the best for last, we have the Rusty Samarco 45, the rarity of which makes the Unexpected single look positively common. My best guess is that Rusty was a Led Zep-worshipping teenager from the sleepy town of Lake Hiawatha, NJ who dragged a bass-playing friend down to his parents' basement in 1979 and recorded this amazing slab of vinyl, sans picture sleeve. I'm guessing if there were any punks in Lake Hiawatha at that time -- highly unlikely -- Rusty would have first in line to beat them up, but there's no denying that there's something very punk about the A-side Climb the Sky. I mean who really needs drums anyway? To the best of my knowledge, the record has appeared on eBay twice to date, both times with sound files, so word is slowly getting out about the genius of Rusty Samarco. A google search turns up a late-90s news story about a troubled man in Florida who is almost certainly the same person, and would put Rusty at 15 years old at the time of the recording. Awesome.
