Was expecting something that sounded more like a big band affair but this just sounds like another Kirk album from the era- and it's a good era for Kirk so that's definitely not a bad thing. Mingus fans'll recognize the first cut from "Oh Yeah".

Some people create a total thing by using the audience as a base of communication, not just playing for themselves or for a certain market — which is the same thing. That's what he did, and that's what I do. Others play the same music live that they played on record which is fine, but it's like who are they doing it for and why? I mean, they've already done it. Why do they go backwards?  Why don't they move into new territory and explore new concepts like Roland Kirk does, or Miles Davis? Music should be alive, in-the-now. It should come out of the moment you're sharing with the audience. Roland has been my idol for years, his rhythmic time, his conception, all of his chops, but his expression is the thing I'm really moved by. He doesn't hold anything back. He gives it all and it's awake and vital, in the moment, not some retread of an album he did ten years ago or even yesterday. (a)           WE GRADE THE VINYL  AS  NEAR MINT. Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs -  are (barely) visible, but are probably inaudible,  and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)           The record comes in the original stock inner sleeve.

(c)            The record has a "deep groove" (an indent in the label about 1/2-inch from the edge of the label, which on SOME labels is associated with very early or first pressings).

(d)           The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(e)              Stereo  pressing of this title is much rarer, and by far more preferable to its mono  counterpart. The mix is more graphic, the sound resolution more precise, and the channel separation (which does not exist on mono version) adds a whole new dimension to the music. Also, the stereo mixes are (by definition) somewhat different than on the mono version. We estimate that mono copies of this album outnumber stereo copies  by a ratio of at least 3:1.

(f)              Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-          Cover shows JUST A HINT of yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.   (BARELY VISIBLE)

-          Cover has a small quality control (inspection) stamp on the back panel

-          Cover has one corner slightly dinged (nothing significant)
