It's a special single here, very dark lyrically - practically early 'goth' in reality. There was little in 1966 to compare with this. Because the song is clearly apprehensive and nothing remotely love-song-y about it, unsurprisingly it failed to find the sales among the optimistic flower power records of that time! To my opinion, music should vary in style and content - so this was a good and pretty daring shrugging-off of such predictable chirpy contrivance.A quality mod freakbeat record!
