Rod Nelton is the man with the sax in his head. He plays some bright new angles on some of your easiest-to-love (to) tunes. Makes 'em something else again! He's been around New Orleans since he wasten, playing, arranging, composing. The Rod Nelton sound: shuffle and tinkle of the French Quarter at dawn, when the musicians start playing for each other-what they like to hear. Sometimes his sax is the husky, haunting sound of riverboats on the Mississippi...misty with memories. Yes, he's a New Orleans sound, but he's more. Something old; something new. He's a happy marriage of Las Vegas and your senior prom...recollected over champagne. The album's title cut, "Put Your Arms Around Me, Honey," is a champagne reminiscence, for sure.So pour yourself a tickle of chilled champagne (or a cold beer). Light candles in silver candlesticks (or throw your windows open to the sun.) And give the man a spin. Rod Nelton has a heartful of music for you!

SIDE ONE

"Put Your Arms Around Me, Honey", begins with a piano rhythm that moves into an easy shuffle. “My Grace, My Lord" was written by Rod and Mike Raymond. “The Most Beautiful Girl in the World", previously recorded by Charlie Rich, is now a toast to her with flutes, sax and violins. “If"; Rod plays up an intriguing melody line. “Delta Dawn" becomes a showcase for lively, versa- tile sax. “The Way We Were" is memorably arranged by Don Steve 1s.

SIDE TWO “Top of the World" becomes a breezy Bossa Nova. "You're So Nice To Be Around", written for his wife, Charlene, displays Rod's distinctive sound. "Bad, Bad LeRoy Brown": Rod's arrangement tells the story without words. “What Are You Doing The Rest of Your Life"; it's easy to tell Rod loves this one. “It's All in the Game", recorded with a triplet rhythm, is another champagne reminiscence. “Night Train", a must in live performances, has become one of Rod's trademarks. Rod plays two saxophones simultaneously on this one.
