Description
Somehow Richard's bid to name the generation of kids born around 1957 the "blank generation" didn't catch on, even though this album was 8 or 9 times better than the that of the Billy Idol group "Generation X"--which did win the naming honors.
But who cares, this stellar record has Richard Hell at his peak, twin guitars by Robert Quine and Ivan Julian, creating jagged discord on their own without an instruction manual, and Marc Bell (who would become Marky Ramone!)
They put on a live show that was one of the very best I ever saw, at the Peppermint Lounge. And their album lived up to that. Great songs and playing somehow tight and ragged at the same time--these guys are awake.
It's history now, but Richard is still with us and writing novels! And you can always hear him as he was at his very best, right here.
This is the 1977 first pressing (LA pressing plant--I bought it in SF the day it came out) It should have swept the world, but then so should punk have--in 1977 we thought it was going to.
As for this particular copy (can't believe I'm selling it really):
The vinyl is Near Mint (play-checked using electrostatic headphones) Sleeve and nice custom lyric/photo inner sleeve are both VG+, a bit of ringwear mostly, dulled gloss to the sleeve, small bit of wear on the bottom edge.
