Description

RCA LSC 2237, Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 3, Byron Janis (piano), Charles Munch, Boston Symphony Orchestra (1958) 1s/2s (I) Indianapolis pressing. This is NOT a reissue – it is the original 50+ year old pressing.  This is one of the hardest to find of the early RCA’s and one of the best.  The piano sound is big, warm and lush, set a very wide and deep stage with big dynamics and 3D imaging.  This copy is my own, and the vinyl surfaces are clean, glossy and exceptionally quiet. There are 1 or 2 very soft isolated tics, but other than that, the vinyl looks and plays NM.  There is a tiny pressing bubble on side 1 and a harmless scuff on side 2 - neither of which make any sound. The labels are clean with no spindle wear.  PLEASE NOTE - the jacket is VG due to some discoloration on the front left, some chipping on the top left seam, and a scrape in the upper right back corner (see photos).  There is also the beginning of a small seam split at the center of the bottom seam.  The inner sleeve is the original and grades EX. Overall, this is a very nice copy of this wonderful golden age recording, marred only by some defects in the jacket. Feel free to return for a full refund if not completely satisfied. Shipping is free anywhere in the continental US.  Outside of the US, buyer pays shipping through eBay's international shipping program.
