Description
RCA LSC 2183, “The Reiner Sound,” RAVEL - Rapsodie Espagnole, Pavan for a Dead Princess; RACHMANINOFF - Isle of the Dead, Fritz Reiner, Chicago Symphony Orchestra (1958) 10s/10s (I) Indianapolis pressing. This is NOT a reissue – it is the original 50+ year old pressing. It spent many years on HP's TAS Super Disk List, and the sound is huge and exciting with a very big dynamic range. It is set a very wide and deep stage with amazing 3D imaging. This copy is my own, and the vinyl surfaces are clean, glossy and exceptionally quiet, EXCEPT for about 10 soft tics near the end of side 1. There is also a tiny bubble at the very end of this side that causes 4 additional soft tics. Other than that, this copy is very close to perfect. There no marks on either side, but a few tiny pressing bubbles on side 2 that make no sound. I am grading side 1 as NM- due to the few tics at the end – otherwise, it looks and plays NM. The labels are clean with no wear, and the jacket is clean, but grades EX due to the letter “B” written on the upper right corner of the back side (see photo). The inner sleeve is NM. Overall, this is a beautiful copy of this wonderful golden age recording. Feel free to return for a full refund if not completely satisfied. Shipping is free anywhere in the continental US. Outside of the US, buyer pays shipping through eBay's international shipping program.
