Description

RARE UK LABEL NORTHERN SOUL

I'll be auctioning off a lot of UK label singles over the next year(s), taken from my own large collection. I've decided to concentrate on collecting US releases, and only keep a few UK label records. Among them are some very collectable 45s indeed, so make sure you don't miss any. I'll be working alphabetically, to make it simpler. However, eBay are doing one of their promotion offers, so I'll use a few rarities today.

DONALD HEIGHT

"TALK OF THE GRAPEVINE"

b/w

"THERE'LL BE NO TOMORROW"

(UK: London-American HLZ 10062, 1966)

Record conditon: Excellent +++

Labels condition: Excellent ++, but minus original centre;

also slight sticker mark on A-side.

"Talk Of The Grapevine" seems to have been with us forever. It's the only one of the six I've put on eBay tonight that saw a second outing (on Jay Boy) during the 'soul reissue' boom of the late 60s/early 70s.

Twisted Wheel regulars (no, I'm not as old as that) danced the night away to fantastic records like this, and it still sounds as fresh in 2006 as it did in 1966. Shout copies are literally ten a penny compared to this. I will also be auctioning a London demo of his follow-up 45 at a later date.

Both labels are nearly faultless (see scan), but somebody burgled the original centre many years ago. Also, I've only just noticed that there's a very light sticker mark on the A-side. I don't think the scanner will pick it up. I certainly didn't, but my eye-sights fading. (I'm still not old enough to have been to the Wheel, though I know a few faces that did).

There are hardly any marks on the vinyl, and both sides play like new.

Currently valued by Manship at £190, and rising.

This record has been played on both sides to verify condition. It comes in my own personalized card cover.

All wins will be sent 'signed for' delivery, so excuse the slight postage increase. Any problems, please contact me.
