RARE & CLEAN 1966 first pressing with alternate/different unique group photo cover art... on the old tan white & grey ATCO label...much more hard to find than the more common "Fontana" label issue...  in glorious MONO...the mono release offers different song mixes from the stereo issue and a big bold meaty punch in the mono production which suits this cruncher so well....

Contains the 1966 original printed ATCO label inner sleeve...

The very first TROGGS album...completely different from the UK press in both cover design(superior here) and track listings... features the TROGGS breakout world hit WILD THING which remains forever timeless...if you like those raw & wild sounds, the album is filled with much more similar fuzzed -up guitar rave-ups & stompers, capped with great howling vocals....

This is an LP filled with WILD teen abandon -- the Troggs rock my cave with this one!  Their singing is all sex.  It drips with pure stalactytic hormonal sludge...god bless the Troggs. 

Actually, this firt TROGGS qualifies as one of the heaviest albums of the UK sixties Invasion. Obviously, one of the main pillars of inspiration here was the Who's My Generation with its feedback chaos and thick basslines, but seeing as the Who themselves had almost abandoned true studio heaviness by this point, the Troggs just kinda filled in that niche. The throbbing "Lost Girl" is distinguished by an earth-shattering bassline and feedback is prominent. Like on one of the highlights, for instance, Presley's Stones-influenced 'I Just Sing', where he emulates nicely Jagger's sneery intonations... but the band doesn't betray its pop image and inclinations either, as the growling vocals and heavy screechy guitar/bass are compensated by a raw fuzz guitar line.

Of course, a British Invasion band (even if it's a relative latecomer like the Troggs) can't miss with such driving high energy ravers like "From Home" & "I Just Sing" - this is definitely one of the better Lp's of the UK Invasion, with heavy riffs and drunk dirty vocals that could have easily substituted all the feedback if there wasn't plenty of it already available. And by the way, about 'From Home'...one can't help but wonder who's doing that maniacal distorted solo in the middle and in the fadeout? Is it really one of the Troggs? It's almost Hendrix-like sonic-wise! It seems that it was originally used as the B-side to 'Wild Thing', thus arguably making it rank among the top five (killer track backed by killer track) singles of 1966.

CONDITION:   Cover: solid all over. Top levels VG++ to "EX" (excellent) no more than a minor 'touch' of shelf wear starting on front, very minor. The seams are strong, no bends, back cover group photos are clean. 45 years old, this is collectible.

Record: both sides are glossy, "EX" (excellent)  TOP LEVEL CLEAN... plays quite clear and enjoyable -- the old 60's deep groove pressing sounded flawless.

      A cool addition to anyone's music library!
