Description

This is an ultra rare vintage 1968 MONO vinyl LP (AUDITION COPY-NOT FOR SALE per affixed sticker on LP cover) by jazz pianist/composer Andrew Hill entitled " The Music of Andrew Hill - Andrew!!! " Blue Note (BLP 4203). 
Andrew is supported on this LP by John Gilmore on tenor sax, Bobby Hutcherson on vibes, Richard Davis on bass and Joe Chambers on drums. The recording was made in June, 1964 by Rudy Van Gelder reportedly at the Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey (the dead wax does not reflect name Van Gelder). This LP was first released in April, 1968 on the Blue Note Records Microgroove label. At the time of the release Blue Note was a Division of Liberty Records, Inc.
This LP features six (6) tracks all composed by Andrew Hill. (see photo of back cover for track titles).The outer jacket (sleeve) was originally intended for a Stereo LP and it is noted the a sticker reading "MONO LP Audition Copy Not For Sale" is affixed over the word Stereo at the top f the outer jacket cover.It is also noted that the outer jacket back cover reflects the catalogue # pertinent to a stereo LP. The label reflects the MONO catalogue # BLP 4203.
CONDITION of VINYL: The shiny vinyl does reflect some scuff and scratches on each side of the vinyl as well as some spindle markings. We have fully test played the vinyl and the playback was generally quite good with some low surface noise detected on occasion from each side but not overwhelming. Most notable surface noise with some noticeable light popping was in the latter part of Side 2 Track 2 (No Doubt).We rate the overall condition of this vinyl as Very Good (VG) under Goldmine guidelines. A new generic inner sleeve is included..
CONDITION of JACKET: The jacket (outer sleeve) reflects a nice cover worthy of framing if one is so inclined. The top and bottom seams each have a few chipped-out spots (no splits). The side seam (spine) does have extensive chipping and cracking making most of the spine printing illegible. The back cover is quite clean with the exception of a past owner's written in ink that would not fully erase out. This back cover is fully legible and features extensive liner notes by Don Heckman, Jazz Editor, American Record Guide. We rate the condition of this jacket only as Very Good Minus (VG-) primarily related to the aforementioned condition to the side seam (spine). A new poly slip-on outer sleeve is included to help preserve this 50 year-old jazz rarity for years to come !

The vinyl within the inner sleeve will be separated from outer jacket. A heavy duty LP record mailer will be used with inserts and ample bubble wrap. Never a packing charge.
