Description

GEORGIA ORGAN GRINDERS: Charming Betsy/Skip to My Lou My Darling (Columbia 15415) recorded in Atlanta in 1929. This is Clayton McMichen, Bert Layne and Lowe Stokes on fiddles; Fate Norris, banjo; Melvin Dupree, guitar. Has some heat marks and lam cracks barely noticeable in play, otherwise E condition. These are probably the best versions I’ve ever heard of both these songs.

I’m helping a friend auction off his collection of fine old time, blues and ethnic 78s. There are some wonderful records, so check my other listings and keep checking back. Due to my schedule these listings will be spread over several weeks time.
