Description
Up for auction is somewhat of a mystery record.
1950s/1960s era Audiodisc acetate cut at 45RPM featuring four hot jazz tracks from a group identified on the labels as the Mahogany Hall Stompers.
A cursory Google search brings up a number of bands by that name, mostly contemporary (and thus unlikely to be this band) such as the one founded by pianist Steve Pistorius in the 1980s as well as international ones located in Japan and the UK. The only band by this name I could find that was active starting in the early 1960s was that led by Chief John Brunious.
I am not a Jazz conoisseur (I specialize in post-war Country and Bluegrass) so I am unsure whether this might be Brunious' band or a totally unrelated group. I'll let potential buyers figure this out - samples for all four tracks are available as videos above.
These samples will also give you an idea of the condition of this record (I'd tentatively call it V-). Rather worn but music still comes through loud and clear.
Feel free to contact me for any questions, and good luck bidding!
