PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. This is an outstanding UK BLUES-BOOM LP legend bringing together some of the earliest and rarest recordings of English style blues music.
Alert to all fans of UK '60s blues (Peter Green Fleetwood Mac and UK Blues Horizon label artists, and all the others alike.) Both Cyril Davis & Alexis Korner were highly influential to the whole British blues rock scene including The Rolling Stones, Yardbirds, etc.
The Godfather' and 'The Architect' of British Blues, respectively, Alexis Korner and Cyril Davies had each played in various Jazz and Skiffle combos before linking up in 1956, ostensibly to present live music at the Roundhouse pub in London's Soho. Although initially allied to Skiffle, both Cyril and Alexis were considerably more interested in the Blues, as these early recordings testify. The first recorded fruits of their liaison was the unfeasible-rare 10 inch LP Blues from the Roundhouse, credited to Alexis Korner's Breakdown Group featuring Cyril Davies, recorded in February 1957. This album is the Holy Grail among collectors, as only 99 copies were ever pressed and it has never previously been reissued (NB: it's listed in the Record Collector Price Guide at: +Euro 1,000+ in any condition.
In 1970 the small UK label "Folklore" issued the 10" LP in 12" form, as well as equally outstanding tracks from 1961. This is the item we offer now...
In a nutshell, the LP is a trip back in time when skiffle music was king, and Korner and Davies stepped away from that style and began to play the blues. Included are songs by Ledbetter, Estes, Merriweather, and others. These are the songs and the performances that many (most) of the (then) up and coming British musicians heard and used as a starting point in learning what blues music was all about. In many of the interviews of well known English blues (and sometimes jazz) musicians, Korner's (and Davies) name is usually mentioned as a primary influence.

CONDITION: The cover: rated: "EX" (excellent) fragile UK cover from 47 years past gas some small handling crinkles in the lamination near corners. The lamination is slightly lifting near spine. All lamination exists on front and back cover (no peeling)...Lamination problems are widely recognized and accepted as such being part of the territory existing in 40+ years back UK & European covers. Otherwise still has a fresh appearance -- there are no delete marks, no split seams, and no writing ... VERY collection worthy ...
