PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. RARE 1969 GRITTY BLUES-PSYCH JAMMER!
ASHKAN
In From The Cold
\ USA - LONDON RECORDS - SES 97017
RARE!!! advanced Released PROMOTIONAL
~ MINT CLEAN VINYL ~
Original 1969 first pressing vinyl of hard UK bluesy-psych slammer ... hits a home run with fans of the scene: ((see LEAFHOUND for sinilar devestating heaviness))
Includes the original printed inner sleeve to the pressing
Ashkan's ~ In from the Cold bares an uncanny resemblance to the UK band ART and early Spooky Tooth meets Barbed Wire Sandwich, but in reality blows them away = had Gary Wright and Spooky Tooth released something this good, it would have been a massive success with the underground crowd.
Propelled by Steve Bailey's hoarse vocal growl and the band's penchant for screaming guitars, this comparison is reinforced on tracks such as "Going Home", "Take These Chains" and "Out Of Us Two". Elsewhere, Bailey sounds like a ravaged gravel throat growler on "Practically Never Happens", while (ex-Black Cat Bones) Bob Weston's guitar sounds like it it is from the early Steve Winwood and Traffic catalogue. With the exception of the pedestrian and still good blues number, "Backlash Blues", the album is highlighted by the extended "Darkness", and overall the album is a must have for the style. "Practically Never Happens" got a further airing on the Broken Dreams psych comp..,
All said, Ashkan's In From The Cold is a pretty rough and tumble heavy rocker from the ass end of the UK blues boom. Most cuts are more than a bit nasty guitar wise for '69, and the distinctly gravel-like vocals are a good addition to the band's sound. It's definitely a loose, jammy sort of record, not to the extent of Stack Waddy, and not as tight as the Groundhogs. Anyone addicted to this sort of old school heaviness, will find it aplenty here, and, so if that's your thing by all means, indulge.
