We mail all paid orders out once a week on Fridays/Saturdays. Please be aware we have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.

Very rare TOP UK Beat/garage collectible first pressing ...this 1965 very first album by the SPENCER DAVIS GROUP featuring 16 year old Steve Winwood was NOT released in the USA and delivers a dynamic sound of R&B/ Brit Invasion laced rock...still in *clean* collectible condition and very very rare some 44 years later...

The Spencer Davis Group were were one of the UK's most convincing R&B bands to emerge during this period. They were best known for introducing a prodigious teenager, Steve Winwood, to the world. It was apparent from their first record that Winwood, with his ferocious soul drenched voice, belying his tender sixteen years, would be the focal point of the group. Spencer Davis put the group together in U.K. Birmingham in the early 60's, and they turned professional a year later. From the outset of their recording career they made it plain that albums were as important to them as singles - unusual in those days.
The group's first three singles reached the lower end of the Top Thirty, but it was the release of this, their debut album "Their First LP" in July 1965 that established them as a major group...
It is basically a reflection of their early repertoire and very heavy on the R&B laced rock standards. Dominated by their own sound and takes on rhythm & blues classics throughout... Two of these are written by Stevie Winwood, the other by Spencer Davis; Winwood's mid-tempo number "It Hurts Me So" is easily the best of them. Winwood is in fine voice throughout the album that established the group as a leading force in the British Invasion, and soon they established themselves in America as major stars when they had back to back top 40 hits...Although they burned up the charts even on the other side of the ocean in 1967, the quartet never capitalized on their fame with an American tour. At the height of their power, Winwood left to form Traffic, leaving Davis without his dynamic frontman.

CONDITION: The laminated cover is VG++ with just some very light shelf wear but nothing much at all, and still has a bright shiny gloss with vibrant color. The flipback seams back cover is clean. The cover is all around sound and solid with no seam splits.
The vinyl is all glossy clean on both sides, EX (excellent) to M- upper levels, expect to play excellent and highly enjoyable. Nice very rare sixties relic...
