Description

An original 1st press of the DEBUT from 1973 on EMI. Matrix 3/2. Stamper 1T/1L [really early in sequence]. Etching 'Kissy Poo!'. Note how the side indicators on the label are vertical [not horizontal]. Original 1st pressings of the debut are not so easy to find - as it didn't enter the top 40 originally [only retrospectively]. Also, worth noting that most of the entire 3/3 batch seem to have a very common pressing fault in the run [difficult to avoid!]. But the 2/3 escapes this problem - making it difficult to find and sought after. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original non-laminated cover with double spine. These 1st issues are incredibly difficult to find in anything approaching decent condition. And original generic inner. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In lovely condition and has only seen the light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with a couple of slightest deviations. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. And this is both hard to find and very important on this title. You're going to need a clean player otherwise the quieter moments will soon become distracting. Lovely and clean into those acoustic/instrumental sections. Think 'Liar' etc.... I'm struggling to pick out anything undesirable. The plucking by May on TNCD is exquisite - against a total clean background sounds incredible. 'Doing All right' - is always a very fussy number and will trip up even very good copies. This copy absolutely aces it - the intro to the song is against a perfectly quiet background. Almost impossible to replicate this level of clarity. All I could detect was a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated spots per side. And one solitary tick in one isolated spot per side. A clean feeder...consistently. Impressive.
Cover (Vg+) A total pain to find in even half decent condition. The unlaminated 1st issues are really difficult to find without surface wear. But this example is still looking rather spritely. The front exhibits relatively little wear, but there is a sticker removal mark top right [blended in as best as I could]. The rear looks good too with less wear than you typically find. Edge wear is relatively slight. The spines are fully intact and exhibit relatively little sign of wear. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg) A little aged. No splits.
