Description

An original 1st press of the DEBUT from 1973 on EMI. Matrix 3/5. Etching 'Kissy Poo!'. Note how the side indicators on the label are vertical [not horizontal]. Original 1st pressings of the debut are not so easy to find - as it didn't enter the top 40 originally [only retrospectively]. Anyone who has purchased the original before and bagged a "3U/3U" copy will likely be aware that EMI cocked up side 2 and pressed a skipping fault into a lot of the initial copies - whoops! What you really need to look for to avoid this balls up - is a straight 5/5 copy [we have one listed....take a look]. Or alternatively the 1st iteration after they picked up the balls up - the "3/5" where they re-cut the 2nd side. The vinyl comes housed in an original non-laminated cover with double spine. These 1st issues are incredibly difficult to find in anything approaching decent condition. Also included is the EMI inner sleeve too. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In excellent condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of very light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with two deviation. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. And this is both hard to find and very important on this title. You're going to need a clean player otherwise the quieter moments will soon become distracting. Lovely and clean into those acoustic/instrumental sections. Think 'Liar' etc...lovely clarity. Not much to take issue with. All I could detect was a couple of minor ticks in 'Doing All Right' & 'Fairy King'. No great shakes at all. A super rendition which will deliver Queen's debut in fine fettle.
Cover (Vg+) A total pain to find in even half decent condition. The unlaminated 1st issues are really difficult to find without surface wear. But this example is very well preserved. The front looks superb with just some minor record impression. The rear looks much better than you tend to find with just some creasing top left and top right. Edge wear is pretty minor and the openings are still sharp and firm. Both spines are fully intact with just very lightest wear. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. An very fine example....
