News Of The World 1/2 First Pressing

This genuine first pressing is a final upgrade archive copy.  Played only once, maybe twice the audio plays with spectacular precision and both the gatefold and lyric inner are practically as new.  A stunning first press that would be very difficult to improve upon.

Visual grading

This is a visually stunning vinyl and looks almost 'as new' such is the incredible glossy sheen it still retains.  Perhaps only played once or twice there is just one mega small spindle trace on each label.  There is one small 'haze' type line on S1 but this has no affect on the stunning audio as detailed below.  There is also one mega tiny thin scratch on S2 but it is incredibly difficult to spot and only causes one faint click which happens to be the only click on the album!  This has to be one of the most impressive first pressings I have seen (and heard) and under a strong bright light I cannot detect any other obvious hairlines or scratches and it visually is nearly a perfect looking copy.  The run out grooves are also beautifully clean.

Play grading  

There is no lead in static on S1 and 'We Will Rock You' then plays with stunning power and clarity.  There is just a very gentle hiss on the first few seconds that is practically inaudible and in no way detracts from the 'high end' audio.  No clicks, pops or crackle.  'We Are The Champions' plays to a standard that can only be graded as Mint- the quality is that good.  This really is a breathtaking version of this classic the likes of which you rarely hear on a genuine first press.  Absolutely stunning!  No distortion, no 'background' just pure Mint sound quality.  'Sheer Heart Attack' wow!  Mint all the way with tremendous power and no distortion at all.  'All Dead All Dead' has a couple of dust ticks on the intro and then plays with stunning clarity once more.  This is audio of the highest calibre I cannot believe precision and sonic quality on offer here.  The final two tracks on the side continue in the same fashion with no 'background', the fade out on 'Spread Your Wings' is incredible.  You could hear a pin drop!  'Fight From The Inside' so often plays with distortion but it is minimal here and remains a superb listen with, you guessed it, no interference again.

'Get Down Make Love' has audio of 'high end' quality from the very first groove and once again performs with great clarity and no interference of any kind.  The synth mid section is quite simply mind-blowing in its quality, another Mint track without doubt.  Both 'Sleeping On The Sidewalk' and 'Who Needs You' play to the same exceptional standard as does 'It's Late' although (big shock!) I did hear one faint click here.  Aside from that it plays with wonderful depth and power and no distortion again.  'My Melancholy Blues' is often affected by various sound issues I find but here it plays with wonderfully clear audio and a handful of mega quiet dust ticks only.  A superb end to a stunning first press.

In summary this is a rare find indeed.  This first pressing has been hardly played and it is getting more difficult by the year to find one in this condition.  With only one soft click during the entire playback and virtual silence in the dead wax between every track this is a final upgrade archive copy of that I have no doubt.  The fact that it comes complete with a superb gatefold and inner means this album would be a great addition to any near mint/mint collection.

Cover

This is a fabulous gatefold in near perfect condition.  The edges and wide spine are so clean with no shelf wear and there is next to no corner wear also.  At first glance this looks brand new!  Throughout it is amazingly clean and the only negative, if you can call it that, is some very faint lines that run across the top of the front cover.  Don't let that put you off as they are barely visible and you can only seen them when you hold the cover at a certain angle.  The opening edge has no handling wear and the inside of the gatefold is immaculate as is the back cover.  Not far off being Mint this is a lovely example of this now famous cover and better than practically all you see today.

Lyric inner

For this original paper inner (with rounded corners) to remain in such perfect condition is very rare.  It is in superb condition and has no splits or creasing and is Mint without doubt.  Impossible to find better.

The labels

There is no writing or marking and as stated only one mega tiny spindle trace on each side.  The run out grooves are super clean also.
