QUEEN GREATEST HITS I (French - Pathe Marconi)

On offer here is a rare early A5/B7 pressing of the French edition of Queen's Greatest Hits as produced by Pathe Marconi. 

Visual grading

Under a bright light the vinyl is absolutely stunning.  There is only one fine hairline on the first two tracks of Side Two but it has no bearing on the audio at all.  You have to look closely to see it as I very nearly missed it!  The vinyl still has that glossy sheen of new vinyl.  I would say this has been hardly played and that is backed up by the complete lack of spindle wear.  It truly has a stunning look about it and the audio pays testament to that.  

Play grading

With no lead in static on either side the audio is so clear it would be nigh on impossible to find any better.  The audio plays with stunning separation and clarity it belies the age of the vinyl.  During the entire playback I heard no interference of any note.  There is only the slightest hint of static in a handful of places but this does not detract from the sheer quality of the vinyl.  There is perhaps a little more static at the beginning of 'Somebody To Love' but it is not obtrusive in any way.  I would also say 'We Are The Champions' plays with a little distortion but it is worth saying that this is common with final tracks where the grooves are pressed closer together in order to "fit" the track on.  Overall any fan would not be disappointed with the audio on this classic LP.

Cover

The cover does have a little shelf although nothing major.  The corners are the areas most affected by a little rubbing and there is a sticker mark top right.  There is also a few small scratch type marks towards the bottom edge on the front cover but not too noticeable.  

Inner

The heavy duty cardboard inner lyric inner (with rounded corners) is in near perfect condition except for one small seam split on one side (approx 2 cm).
