It is so hard to beleive that 34 years has passed since this album was 1st released. I remember rushing out as a boy after hearing this awesome album being blasted out by my brother in his bedroom. Queen, a group no one had heard of, I remember going to school and telling my teacher of this group and bringing it in for him to listen to. He subsecuently went out to purchase it for himself. I went on to purchase every other UK album released by Queen and I now own all, and many copies of their UK pressings. But after their 3rd album I must admit I began to loose interest when they become to acheive commercial success. Although musicaly they had moved on and were technical better the originality and the raunchy feel of the 1st three albums to me could never be surpassed in my personal opinion. You can really hear the influences from the great rock groups around at the time with their added unique quality of lyrics guitar licks and musical genius!!!!!!
This album on offer is a must for any Queen adicts out there!!! very very hard to find an original 1st issue on the original EMI labels but not the earliest 1st press which I have found to be with 2u 2u stampers, but this album on offer is so rare because of the vinyls near mint condition 'LOOKS TOTALY UNPLAYED IN MY OPINION! With the original 1st issue cover!! and original plain white inner sleeve!!!!! extreemely collectable UK pressing!!!!!! AND THIS IS A MUST FOR QUEEN COLLECTORStry to find another Queen vinyl that is 36 years old and looks totaly unplayed condition unbelievable to find!!!!
''Queen'' is the self-titled debut album of the English rock band Queen, released in 1973. It was recorded at Trident Studios and De Lane Lea Studios, England, and produced by Roy Thomas Baker (as Roy Baker), John Anthony and Queen!!.
The album was influenced by the progressive rock and heavy metal of the day and covers subjects such as the mythical ("My Fairy King") and the religious ("Jesus"). Lead singer Freddie Mercury composed five of the ten tracks. Lead guitarist Brian May contributed four songs, including one song, "Doing All Right" co-written by Smile counterpart Tim Staffell, while drummer Roger Taylor composed — and sang — one. The final song on the album is a short instrumental version of "Seven Seas of Rhye"; the full version, including vocals, appeared on the band's next album, Queen II. The band included the comment 'No synthesizers' on the album sleeve, as some listeners had mistaken their elaborate multi-tracked and effects-processed guitar and vocal sounds as synthesizers!!!.
Queen had been playing the club/college circuit in and around London for almost two years when the band used a chance opportunity to test out De Lane Lea Studios' new recording facilities to put together a fairly polished demo tape of five songs: "Keep Yourself Alive", "The Night Comes Down", "Great King Rat", "Jesus" and "Liar". Despite its quality, no record company would take them on, except for a low bid from Chrysalis Records, which they used to try to entice other companies!!!.
They were finally taken aboard in 1972 by Norman and Barry Sheffield, who were setting up Trident Studios, but they were allowed to record only during the studio's downtime, when the paying artists had left (usually between 3am and 7am). While waiting one day for use of the studio, Freddie Mercury was asked to record vocals by producer Robin Cable, who was working on a version of "I Can Hear Music" and "Goin' Back". Mercury enlisted Brian May and Roger Taylor to record the tracks. These recordings released on a single under the name Larry Lurex!!!.
The downtime arrangement lasted from June to November 1972. The limitations led the band to focus on completing one track at a time. Problems arose almost immediately. The band had thought highly of the De Lane Lea demo tracks, but producer Roy Thomas Baker asked them to re-record the songs with better equipment. "Keep Yourself Alive" was the first to be re-recorded, and Queen did not like the result. They recorded it once again, but in the mixing sessions no mix met their standards until engineer Mike Stone stepped in. After seven or eight failed attempts, Stone's first try met with Queen's approval. He would stay on to engineer and eventually co-produce their next five albums. The first re-record of "Keep Yourself Alive" was later released by Hollywood Records in the US, titled "(Long Lost Re-take)", with Brian May's approval. Another track proved problematic. "Mad The Swine" was recorded for the album, yet Baker and Queen disagreed on the quality of the percussion. With the issue unresolved, the track was left off the album. It surfaced in 1991, however, as both the B-side to the "Headlong" CD single in the UK, and on the Hollywood Records re-release of the album. The version of "The Night Comes Down" which appears on the album is, in fact, the De Lane Lea demo recording, as its quality was apparently up to the standards of the rest of album's recordings!!!!.

The vinyl.
To start with I have played this track for track more than a few times. The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turn table. It is so easy to be critical about mid seventees EMI pressings but I can honestly say that the audio quality on this album will be hard to beat, THIS PLAYS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT ON MY SYSTEM! PLAYED AS NEW!!!. There was nothing that spoilt this awesome sounding album that I heard. Please note! So rare to find like this EMI pressings soon changed to much flimsier type of vinyls that were much less superior!!!!!THE BEST THAT I HAVE HEARD OF THIS PRESSING,PLAYED AT VERY LOUD VOLUME ON A TOP SYSTEM!! VISUALY GRADED AS NEAR MINT! AUDIO AS GOOD AS IT GETS ON VINYL IN MY OPINION!
Visualy this still retains its original sheen from new And looks like new!!!! Even in very strong light I can't see a blemish (NO) surface marks\scuffs (no) visable needle scratches at all!,, at least none audio sounding marks at all that I heard!!!! Any marks that could possibly be seen would caused by the vinyl been slid in and out of its record sleeve can only The audio is awesome through out)!!! It was cristal clear and vibrant through out !!!This vinyl is graded as good as it gets audio in my opinion!!!!! The audio is awesome cristal clear and vibrant even between tracks extreemely minimal noise!!!unbeleivable for 34 years old!!!! THE BEST THAT I HAVE HEARD OF THIS PRESSING! GRADES AT THE TOP ON ALL FREQUENCIES!!!!
Please look at my other completed listings sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!!!
please note! I always add this disclaimer! I have played this vinyl through a few times not just once and have given my honest opinion on the audio quality. Although I never heard any problems myself and I would class myself as highly critical, Please allow for the odd static (not) consistant through out the audio! This is an original vinyl pressing not a reissue that is genuinely 34 years old would have been played on a system that is 34 years old!!!!!! Please look at my completed listings of albums that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that I normally get it right!!!!!!!!!!!
The labels.
These are the original EMI labels very slightly darker in colour than later pressings that I have. Visually you will have to look very hard to find any spidering any spidering seen (only side 2.)can be counted, this has hardly been played at all (no) spindle ware. These are in exceptional condition!!!Unbeleivable for 36 years old!!!!
The cover
This is the original fully un- laminated Garrod & Lofthouse cover !!(only uk covers)!!! I can not over emphisise how difficult it is to find an original 1st press cover and even more difficult in this condition!!!!! The 1st thing to note is only the very 1st of these covers have writing on both the spine and at the top edge!. Very few original were pressed like this and soon changed!!!!! There are no splits or tares and hardly any storageware or scuffing to talk of in fact there are very few creases to talk, Very light crease on the front top left corner only, of the very very few that there are you can only see if you are looking for them (please note! The very fragile nature of these covers make these almost impossible to find in good condition (normally seen with ringware rubbing and rubbing at the edges) try to find better AFTER 34 YEARS UNBELIEVABLE CONDITION!!EXCELLENT\EXCELLENT PLUS!!!!

I have tried to be as honest as i can when describing this album. I have taken time to play the vinyl track by track to give a real and proper description on the audio quality. The description is my personal opinion and although I would class myself as highly criticle of coarse every one has a different opinion when it comes down to music. I always put this disclaimer! that this is the original (not a reissue) that is 31 years old so please allow for the odd tick here and there certainly not consistant through out the audio (although I never heard any at all in my opinion this audio is awesome) I have also taken time to take many photos of this album to show all aspects clearly!!!!!!
