Creative Arts Ensemble - Newborn - Illinois State University/Custom 780923 - 70's jazz/soul/school band LP - sealed original pressing

Not your typical school jazz band LP as this group has a professional sound and blends soul, jazz, gospel, and interesting compositions.  "Searchin" is a great jazz-tinged crossover/modern soul tune with soulful vocals.  Would have been a good single but they didn't make any 45's from this set (later made "Caveman Boogie" on 45).  The title track has a great open bassline and really smooth sax lines.  "Life" is a super slow soul cut about poverty very reminiscent of 24 Karat Black with a little Sons & Daughters of Lite's spiritual jazz touches.  "You Need Him" is another nice spiritual gospel soul track with smooth Chicago-like horns.
