Description
Extremely rare item here. A custom recording by the Prisonaires made at the Nashville Penitentiary some time during the early fifties. During the course of the recording, Alfred Brooks makes reference to it as a "tape". There is no indication as to when it was transcribed to vinyl. It was made for a person named Garrison Siskin(?) from Chattanooga, TN. Including a 2 songs composed especially for Mr.Siskin. Personnel as introduced during the recording: Johnny Bragg:Lead, Alfred Brooks:2nd lead, Howard Anniston:Baritone, James Doyle:Bass, L.B. McCullough:guitar, Henry Jones:Piano. This is a one of a kind historical document of this legendary gospel, R&B vocal group. There a few crackles and light pops here and there and the label shows a bit of discoloration. The sound quality is quite good for an item of this kind. I have included many excerpts in the attached auction players. Tracks are as follows, with introductions and lots of talking between each. 1-Intro, When the Saints Go Marchin' In 2-In The Garden 3-Boney Maronie 4-Suppertime 5-Caldonia 6-Gentle Hands 7-Walkin' In the Rain 8-Not sure 9-A Prisoner's Prayer 10-Our Kind Of Man 11-Senor Siskin. Several of these have never appeared on any of the re-issues that I could find on line. I picked this up at an Atlanta estate sale some years ago. I can't find any info on it anywhere on line and would certainly appreciate any info from the eBay community if anyone has any. If you're not happy with the record for any reason I will take it back and refund your money minus shipping cost. I will pack this item carefully but strongly recommend insurance as I have no control over how the item will be handled once I've shipped it.
