PINK FLOYD
WISH YOU WERE HERE
NIMBUS SUPERCUT
In the early 1980s Nimbus produced a selection of hi-fidelity recordings from the original master tapes using the best available mastering processes. In fact, Nimbus employed many techniques for each release that were not commonly used. For example, generally when bass moves from channel to channel on an LP, groove modulation is employed to reduce the movement of the stylus and this results in this bass being centered more over both channels. Most audiophiles would argue that this and in fact anything, which changes the original recording should be avoided although this is common practice on most LPs and with Nimbus this resulted in outstanding sound quality.
Nimbus also had the ICI company produce an extremely pure vinyl for the LPs, which has amazing frequency reproduction and is virtually noise free - similar in quality to the 'super vinyl' used on earlier Mofi pressings. Due to their rarity and small pressing quantities, they are often more expensive than audiophile LPs from other labels, but the sums paid can be justified by the outstanding quality of the pressings and the fact that they tend to rise in value over time and as such are deemed as investments by some audiophiles. I saw one sell on E-bay for £1471.00.
This issue truly is something all Floyd and Vinyl collectors should have in their collection. The sound is a cut above the mass produced WYWH pressing which I'm sure you'll agree is a classic.
I am incredibly fussy about my vinyl and how it's stored and what it's played on.
I bought two copies of this album at the time and as such this one never got played.
The condition is as accurately described as follows:
Vinyl: NR Mint - only played twice, once when I bought the album and then just before I listed it here on E-bay on my Ninja LP12 with Naim Aro and Sumiko Sho cartridge.
Labels: NR Mint- little sign of this disc being played.
Cover: Excellent- spine is excellent with sticker on front in excellent condition- been housed in polythene protective cover to protect over the years. Please note that in the photo the top right hand corner of the album sleeve looks like it might be bent. This is not the case and is just the way the photo came out.
Please note that it doesn't come with the postcard insert, for some reason neither copy that I have came with the postcards when I bought them.
There were less than 1000 of these produced and not many seen on Ebay over the years
