PINK FLOYD very first pressing PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN

This really is a rare, hugely sought after very 1st MONO pressing with "Sold in U.K." on the labels but no "File Under Pop" at the top right hand side of the flipback sleeve
Both sleeve and vinyl are in truly excellent condition and the quality of the audio is superb. Here comes some further detail...
The Ernest J. Day outer sleeve is in excellent condition, with the front laminate completely intact, and no scuffing on the edges which are all near perfect. The spine is rigid and suffers only from the merest hint of age discolouration. There is some very faint ringwear in evidence towards the top right hand side with some very mild surface laminate creasing but, again, you have to look twice to notice it and there is nothing to detract from the vibrancy of the colours and overall stunning effect of the sleeve design.The reverse flipback is excellent+ with some very minor age discolouration towards the top left hand corner and the name "Sal" wrtitten neatly and discreetly in the top left hand corner. Each of the flipbacks are in A1 condition with no tears, rips, or sticking blemishes.
Both sides of the thick, heavy vinyl have retained most of their original sheen though there are some hairlines and on side 2 a very light 2cm surface scuff which pervades the last two tracks...all of these are purely surface blemishes and are barely noticeable unless held up to a bright light. None of these minor blemishes negatively impact upon the overall superb quality of the audio.

Each label is very good+ with the "K" and "T" tax codes clearly in evidence on side 1. There are a number of light spindle marks around the centre holes and the only other blemish is the name "Sally" which has been neatly written in very dark blue biro above the "BIA" part of "COLUMBIA" - this hand writing is not immediately noticeable but it is there.
The quality of the audio is excellent also. There is, in a few places, some very light background crackle (a little more in evidence during the intro to side 2) and two clicks also during the side 2 intro. Even the silence between the tracks is largely just that - no crackle, just silence! To state that the listening experience of this ground-breaking album is a joy is an understatement : just sit back and enjoy each track in full blown wonderful mono...a true 60's experience!
The inner sleeve is fully functional though it does have an 8cm seam split at the very bottom and there is some very light age discolouration.
I have no hesitation whatsoever in grading the overall condition of this offereing as Excellent; it's not mint, however, but at the same time I know that you will have search hard to find a better copy.

Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. Good Description: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.Fair
