Description
For sale here is an incredibly rare set of Pink Floyds iconic "Dark side of the moon" album. Included are the 3 genuine and original first presses from the UK, South Africa and Japan. ALL 3 ALBUMS HAVE THE ICONIC SOLID BLUE TRIANGLE LABELS.
All 3 albums have been fully play-graded. I know the expectations of a vinyl collector, and as such myself, I pride myself on the accuracy of my gradings (to record collector guidelines). Please check my feedback for previous happy buyers!!
So, one by one.
UK VERSION. A2 / B2 matrices of course. Blue tinted cover grades excellent. Only a slight hint of shelf wear. Colour has remained strong with hardly a hint of damage. Inner sleeve is in great shape. Just a slight nick to the centre on one side only. Original and grades as excellent. Posters are both present and both grade as excellent. No damage. Stickers are both present. Both have a light crease from being caught inside the gatefold cover hinge. Very clean and grade very good plus. The vinyl surfaces visually are really good. Retain a nice deep sheen and lustre. There is a mark on side 1 visible in angled light. This is extremely light and purely cosmetic. IT HAS NO EFFECT ON THE AUDIO REPRODUCTION AT ALL. There is only a small handful of spindle marks on the labels per side. The audio playback is quite simply superb. Outstanding. Great power, control and musicality. The detail is spot on. In my reference notebook I added the following. Very very quiet start to side one heartbeat. The whole side plays excellent plus (my highest grade for a used album). Side two plays equally well with the only note I made being a light click on the run off at the end of the side. Side two also graded excellent plus on a play-grading basis.
JAPANESE VERSION. 1st press depicted by the solid blue triangle labels and the 2000 Yen price inside the gatefold cover. The jet black glossy cover is immaculate and has just a small "ding" to one corner. No shelf wear at all. Grades as excellent plus. The anti static original inner sleeve is perfect. Grades excellent plus. Both posters are present and grade excellent. The book is fully intact and grades as excellent. The vinyl surfaces visually are quite stunning. Not a mark to be seen. Vinyl grade visually is excellent plus. Again, my reference notebook made the following comments. Nice very quiet opening to heartbeats side one. Plays almost perfectly with just a dust "pop" at the end of the track "Time". Side two plays equally as well, with the only note being 2 dust pops during track 2. Play-grading is an easy excellent plus.
SOUTH AFRICAN VERSION. Matte black cover has virtually no shelf wear. Very very clean example. Has a small area of sticker residue to the rear right corner. Grades as excellent. The paper inner sleeve has some discolouration and is wrinkled. Also I have no idea if it is genuine to the LP or not. Grades very good. There are no stickers or posters with this. I do not even know if they were in this edition when first released. The labels show several spindle marks per side, and have a name written on one side. The vinyl surfaces are still nice. Clean and glossy. There are a couple of light superficial (non-feelable) marks per side. Visual grade is very good plus. Unfortunately the audio does not quite live up to the visual appearance. I have heard South African pressings can be very hit and miss, regarding sound quality. I have nothing to judge it against, so can only report what I heard on playback. There is surface noise on play. Comes and goes a bit and varies in degree. Suffice to say it is an extremely rare version and seldom comes up for sale. More one for a collector who is not looking for a great playing copy particularly. Due to the noisy vinyl I can grade it no better than very good minus. No sticks or skips though!
So there you have it. A chance to own the only 3 pressings (genuine 1st pressings) in the world with the solid blue triangle labels. Never seen these come up for sale in one lot before. Truly rare.
Please feel free to make sensible offers.
I will post overseas, but not to Russia, Belarus or Ukraine. I have listed the price for UK postage only. I DO NOT make anything on the postage. I charge the exact cost (often less) that I pay. I DO NOT charge for packing materials and I try to use recycled packing anyway. I also dress all my albums in a brand new heavyweight plastic cover and a brand new anti-static inner sleeve. All vinyl is packed outside of the cover and 2 stiffeners are used in transit. I have sold many valuable vinyls over the years and am often credited with Fort Knox style packing. Please bid with peace of mind that what you see is what you get.
If you have any questions, please just ask. Albums will be posted same day I receive the funds if early enough, or at worst the next day.
