Description

An original spring '74 cut of DSOTM on the UK Harvest label. A3/B3 - not the very 1st cut, but within 12 months of those original Solid-Blue Triangle copies. Please note that label design is consistent with a spring '74 pressing. At this time Emi were in the throws of a label redesign and were substituting 'Gramophone' with 'Emi' in the perimeter text. This copy will have been one of the very 1st to carry the EMI text. How can we tell? Look at the labels and notice that there is a duplication error of 'Made in Great Britain' - it is mentioned once at six o'clock and then again at four o'clock. These copies are but 12 months behind those super collectable solid-blue triangle copies and are, in my opinion, great value when you consider that they carry the same audio! The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original G&L cover and sealed sturdy left hand panel. Also included is the original inner sleeve and both stickers. Sorry, NO posters.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In very nice condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of light marks and a few superficial very low-level ones - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of slight deviations. Intros and inbetweens are pretty much silent and the audio comes across with superb clarity. Nearly all copies of DSOTM will carry some interference in that very first intro and there are a few low-level static crackles, but it's well above the average standard that usually surfaces. You can really hear the quality in the audio. Beautiful clarity and resolution allowing you to hear deep into the mix. By and large a super player with only minor infrequent interference. The only areas where's it's just a shade off the pace is in 'Time' from the big explosion at the start you're going to detect some very low-level static. Again, nothing invasive and certainly low-level enough not to hinder the enjoyment of the track. It's just not quite going to get top grades here. There's also a touch again in 'Us & Them' - but it's pretty trivial and would only put off the most ardent hifi nut. A great rendition of this Floyd classic on that sought after A3/B3 matrix.
Cover (Ex-) In beautiful condition and many of the original copies have not survived in anything approaching this condition. Very nice clean front with less surface wear than you usually find. Please note there are one or two light blemishes, but little else worthy of note. The rear is in similarly fine condition with very little handling wear at all. The interior looks great - no issues at all. Edge wear is relatively light for this title and the openings are still sharp. The spine is pretty much entirely intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and remains an impressive specimen.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing and a couple of splits that have been taped up.
Stickers (Vg) Nice condition, but both have a heavy crease running through them.
