We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Thee ORIGINAL 1968 first press in thick gatefold cover...on the highly collected STEAMBOAT Reprise label of the sixties...finds the mighty FUGS and their psychedelic attack...

Original Reprise printed inner sleeve is included

The Fugs combined smutty garage rock'n'roll, Gregorian chants, canticles, and bohemian poetry into a stoned stew of anti-establishment freakouts! Beneath the imagery of the freaks, the Fugs were rock-artists whose collage abilities were far greater than most of the bands of the 60's. Heretic satire was not only combined by an understanding of popular culture, but also by a deep knowledge of the history of rock-music and a desire to turn it upside down.

Thus the freak-rock opener "Turn On Tune In Drop Out" a highly catchy jammer, also offered a rollicking fuzz guitar injection. And in the gentle acid melodic groover "The Garden Is Open", features the incendiary guitar solo which imitated the dance of a mandolin, before it kicked into fuzzed-blues overdrive, and then moved back and forth. Similarly, "Wet Dream" shines in sheer elegance with twisted lyrics. Time then for some higher key head trips in the raga mantra "Hare Krishna".

There were also more daring experiments, like the musique concrète ceremony "Excorsing The Evil Spirits From The Pentagon" from an actual park festival hippies "Be-In". "War Song" then verged into the progressive music-hall, albeit not in a technical excessive way but rather delving in a sonic expressionism that borrowed from various forms of populist music: folk, the traditional-song, the military march, church music etc. In further eloquent experiments, the ballad "Dover Beach" was a folk-dirge with Middle-Eastern flavours, and "Fingers of the Sun" was a pastoral fairy-tale. Finally, the suite "Aphrodite Mass" worked like a summary of their whole approach.

CONDITION: The Cover: is a thick gatefold and really hard to find clean..here then, a solid 48 year old first printing...the cover is  VG++ (strong for this highly wear prone cover)...overall a collection copy = has no split seams, no bends. no writing...no delete marks  

The Vinyl: is all glossy clean and shiny over both sides; M- and played top level with no disturbing audio. The steamboat labels are clean
