Although they don't always get the props they deserve, Suburban Base regulars Krome & Time were one of the most significant outfits of the early UK bass era, delivering a string of singles that mirrored wider musical developments between 1989 and '95. This fantastic, five-disc Anthology does a good job in charting that progression, beginning with the 'bleep and breaks' brilliance of 'The Rush (Dub Bass Mix)') (as Kromozone) and 'Fireball (VIP)' (as Timebase). From there on, it's a sprint through hardcore rave ('Into The Night', 'Virtual Reality VIP, and two takes on their most famous anthem, 'This Sound is For The Underground'), and jungle ('The Slammer VIP', 'Final Destination'). Throw in a clutch of cuts as Higher Level, some rarities and a handful of fresh remixes, and you have a genuinely essential retrospective.
