PROCOL HARUM VINYL TITLES
Grand Hotel is the sixth studio album by Procol Harum. Originally released in 1973. Grand Hotel, found the band returning to the grandeur of earlier works such as Shine on Brightly and Salty Dog. The album reached No. 21 on the Billboard album charts. FANTASTIC 140 GRAM CLEAR GREY VINYL GATEFOLD JACKET, LINER NOTES + DOUBLE LP SET WITH BONUS TRACKS OF GRAND HOTEL ( RAW TRACK) & BRINGING HOME THE BACON( RAW TRACK)
Grand Hotel shows Procol Harum breaking sharply with the past and doing so in spectacular style while retaining echoes of their glorious musical history. I've been a Procol addict from the very beginning. There is nothing in pop music like the haunting melodies and lyrics which spring from the minds of the genre's most talented songwriting duo, Gary Brooker and Keith Reid. Grand Hotel represents a turning away from the increasingly guitar-driven music of Broken Barricades and Home and back to the piano and organ oriented music of the first three albums that I think Brooker is more at home with. The songwriting on Grand Hotel is elegant and always enigmatic. The best three cuts are the title song, A Rum Tale, and Fires (which burnt brightly). Those who miss the stinging guitar of Robin Trower should like Bringing Home the Bacon and TV Caesar. If one had to pick a "best album" from the first ten, Grand Hotel would certainly rank second or third.

Shine On Brightly is the second studio album by English rock band Procol Harum. Procol Harum was a big contributor to the development of symphonic rock, and by extension, progressive rock.
Procol Harum is the eponymous debut studio album by the English rock band. Originally released in 1967 it now celebrates its 50th year anniversary. Though the album was recorded on multi-track, it was issued as mono-only in the U.K.
All songs were originally credited written to Gary Brooker (music) and Keith Reid (lyrics), except "Repent Walpurgis" written by Matthew Fisher, after works by French organist Charles-Marie Widor and German composer Johann Sebastian Bach.
Procol Harum's lyricist Keith Reid told Songfacts that the music for "Conquistador" was written before the lyrics. He added that this was unusual as "99 out of 100" of the band's songs, back then, "were written the words first, and then were set to music". The track "Salad Days (Are Here Again)" is credited as being from the film Separation.

Procol Harum Novum LIMITED EDITION 2 LP SET
Brand New Double LP In The Band's 50th Anniversary Year!
Kicking things off with the huge and ongoing success of their debut single "A Whiter Shade Of Pale", Procol Harum went on to help define the progressive rock genre in the early seventies whilst at the same time embracing their roots in blues and soul. "Novum" sees a new lyrical direction for Procol Harum with the songs all featuring words by Pete Brown, most famous for his songwriting collaboration with the members of Cream. This has given a different feel to the songs, retaining the thought provoking content for which the band has always been known but with a different slant and elements of humor. As ever, the music and musicianship within the band is of the highest level and this long-awaited collection of brand new songs is sure to be devoured greedily by Procol Harum’s devoted fanbase.
In an interview with Billboard, frontman Gary Brooker says, "We've been playing together for 10 years live, so it was about time we did something in the studio. And we suddenly realized, because people started saying it, [that] we've been going 50 years this year. Fifty years! You can't let that go by. If ever there's a good moment to do something new, fresh, write new songs and get in the studio, it's now."
"Fifty years into a legendary career, most bands are content to rest on their hits, releasing bland blues covers albums or bored-yet-pleasant regurgitations of their earliest work. Procol Harum is not 'most bands.'... A testament to Brooker’s charisma, his blues-soaked Ray Charles vocals and soulful yet classically informed piano work still sound as vibrant as ever—every song maintains the trademark, instantly recognizable swagger we first fell in love with in 1967 on 'A Whiter Shade of Pale.'" - Jude Warne, observer
"Novum is a worthy 50th anniversary offering. This is the sound of a working band, not a tired reunion project... Novum is far better than anyone had any right to expect: It's energetic, hungry, and swaggering. That said, it retains the trademark class and musical sophistication that makes Procol Harum iconic." - Thom Jurek, allmusic

Procol Harum BROKEN BARRICADES FACTORY SEALED 2015 DOUBLE VINYL LP WITH BONUS TRACKS FANTASTIC 140 GRAM GREY VINYL WITH GATEFOLD JACKET, LINER NOTES + DOUBLE LP SET WITH BONUS TRACKS ON SECOND LP OF POOR MOHAMMED (BACKING TRACK) & SONG FOR A DREAMER (BACKING TRACK ) + BROKEN BARRICADES LONG FADE ROUGH MIX & SIMPLE SISTER RAW MIX
It is hard to say that one Procol Harum album is a higher grade of "5 stars" than another, because most of their albums attain that lofty status. To me, there are five distinct periods in the evolution of the band. Broken Barricades marks the end of their second period and also the end of an era with the subsequent departure of guitarist Robin Trower who was instrumental in giving the second period its harder sound.
On Broken Barricades, the usual songwriting team of Gary Brooker and Keith Reid continues at center stage, but with diminished presence. My favorites from that team include the brutal Simple Sister on which Trower plays full throttle, the inscrutable title cut, the suggestive Luskus Delph, and the opaque classic Playmate of the Mouth. Fans of drummer BJ Wilson will thrill to Power Failure. And Trower teams up with Reid to put his stamp on three cuts, the best by far of which is the soaring Song For A Dreamer.
Trower has often been accused of aping Jimi Hendrix, but Trower's style was in formation before Hendrix was well known, so I for one do not agree with that charge. It is true that Trower admired Hendrix, and Song For A Dreamer is Trower's tribute to him.
If you are a fan of Procol Harum on any level, this well-done remaster of a classic album deserves a place in your rotation. If this is your first taste of the band, I say buy this while it is still available and check out the band's other great albums.

Home is Procol Harum's fourth album, released in 1970. With the departure of organist Matthew Fisher and bassist David Knights and the addition of the remaining musicians (Gary Brooker, B.J. Wilson and Robin Trower) former bandmate bassist/organist Chris Copping from The Paramounts, Procol Harum was, for all intents and purposes, The Paramounts again in all but name.
The purpose of bringing in Copping was to return some of the R&B sound to the band that they had with their previous incarnation.
The initial sessions were performed in London at Trident Studios under the supervision of former organist Matthew Fisher who had also produced the band's previous album. Unhappy with the sound and performances, the band scrapped the Trident sessions and began again with producer Chris Thomas and engineer Jeff Jarratt at Abbey Road Studios. Once the album was completed it was decided that the cover would be a parody of the British board game Snakes and Ladders featuring members of the band.
When the album was released in June 1970 it charted at No. 34 in the United States and No. 49 in the United Kingdom, making the Danish Top 10 peaking at No. 6. The album was preceded by the single "Whiskey Train" written by guitarist Robin Trower with lyricist Keith Reid.
