on the naptown jazz records label, stereo pressing, catalog # NJ-1001, from 1980.   11 tracks.   very clean original pressing of a very scarce private press gem that incorporates elements of jazz and funk with latin and afro brazilian vibes.   much harder to find than billy wooten's legendary "wooden glass" lp.....out of indianapolis, indiana. 

personnel includes:   billy wooten:  vibraphone, marimba;   royce campbell:  electric guitar;   julius adeniyi:  talking drum, percussions;  steve dokken: electric bass;  jack gilfoy: drums, latin percussions.  

the songs: praises to buraimon atanda adeniyi;   st. thomas ( the sonny rollins classic jazz tune adapted from a west indian folk song);   yeke omo;   the work song  (a killer version of nat adderly's tune with great arrangement featuring billy wooten and royce campbell, communicating with each other via a standard technique called trading fours);   road song (great interpretation of wes montgomery's classic tune with an awesome drum break intro and featuring a funky bass solo by julius adeniyi);  crown royal (much sought after afro/bossa jazz burner);   bambara;   summer light;   naptown blues;   quiessense;   and samba da rio (batucada tune with highly charged rhythms).  

cover is NM-, still in the shrink, with some light edge wear along right side, a bit of sticker residue in upper right corner (which i'm sure will come off, i'm just not going to) and just a whisper of ring wear where shrink has peeled back.   vinyl is NM-, nearly pristine example of this incredibly rare lp.  about the cleanest copy you'll find of this one, it hardly ever comes up for sale.  vinyl has been cleaned on a VPI.  check my other auctions this week for many more great private press;  jazz;  funk;  soul and other genres.......and keep watching in the coming weeks for some great psych, folk, audiophile, classical.......and who knows what else.   i have hundreds of records to liquidate in the coming weeks and months.

all records are original pressings unless noted....i do not sell current reissues. please ask any questions early, as i am not always by my computer near the end of auctions. buyer pays shipping. all records are shipped in dedicated record mailers, with cardboard inserts.   paypal is the only accepted form of payment at this time, ebay has gotten rid of my ability to accept money orders.  

i have to state that i will ship for $4.00 according to new ebay rules, but i do not like to use media rate, or first class domestic either.....both take far too long, and items have sometimes gone missing as well.  if you absolutely have to save $3.00 on shipping, then that is what you'll get, media rate for $4.00, including delivery confirmation.   to me, as a seller, it takes too long, and i end up with too many questions as to where your record is, and when did i ship it?, etc.     i prefer priority shipping within the US, and the cost is $7.00,  including delivery confirmation.  first class airmail shipping to CANADA is $7.00. first class airmail shipping to EUROPE, JAPAN & AUSTRALIA is $14.00.   payment is expected within 10 days of auction end. thanks for looking, and good luck.
