on the original DELERIUM RECORDS DELEC-EP-010 from 1992.
I had lunch a couple of times with Richard Barbieri in Los Angeles, when he was dating a girl I knew back in the 1980's, and I told her then that this fellow was talented and would go onto bigger things!
PORCUPINE TREE are the finest band around today, these musicians are creating imaginative progressive sounds when everything else is either derivative, or simply nowhere near as good. This tasty gem, from LONG ago in their history (15 years IS a long time - and they've issued about as many albums in that period), is something of a foray into the world of Timothy Leary! Bearing relation to his LP "You Can Be Anyone, This Time Around" (which included backing from one Jimi Hendrix!), but it is a guided warning about the dangers of tripping-out on LSD one time too many. In a story of someone who felt they had control over his lsd tripping, but on the 34th trip "met themselves" on an escalator going up while they were going down - the encounter was too much for him.
As some have found out to their ultimate misfortune and psychological trauma - the story can and has happened. Albeit hypothetical to a casual listener, it carries a warning for anyone who thinks they can casually experiment with acid! All this story is surrounded by hypnotic beats and psychedelic passages that are quietly re-assuring, but at the same time compelling and addictive too!
On a small lable, and pre-dating their heavier psych period as a band, this 12" runs for 30 minutes and 4 seconds. It is, of course, long deleted and unavailable on record since its' limited release issue.
This is in lovely condition! The vinyl is ASTOUNDING NEAR MINT.
There are no visible marks around the spindle-hole, The surface has full superb shine, NO scratches.
The lables are spotless, and clean as new.
The cover is solid EX, and has the proper 'WARNING' sticker.
A TOP quality copy indeed!
