ZABRISKIE POINT.

This is not a re-press or a later pressing as some are.

This album came from the very first batch to be presses as can be seen by the Matrix numbers and indeed the mother stampers pressed on the run off of the vinyl: side one 1-0 side two 1-0.

Zabriskie Point is a soundtrack album to the Michelangelo Antonioni film of the same name. originally released in January 1970.

Pink Floyd's contributions to the album were recorded in November and December 1969, after the release of Ummagumma.

Come in Number 51, Your Time Is Up, is a re-recording of Careful with That Axe, Eugene, originally released as a b-side in December 1968. "Love Scene (Version 4)" is a Richard Wright solo piano composition. "Country Song" is a ballad filled with chess metaphors. "Unknown Song" (also known as "Rain in the Country") is a relaxed instrumental. "Love Scene (Version 6)" is a bluesy instrumental. A track entitled "Fingals Cave" and another called "Oenone" were recorded but did not appear on the finished album.

Pink Floyd also recorded other unreleased material during the same sessions. Most notable is a lengthy composition which at that time was known as "The Violent Sequence". A chord sequence from a section of this piece would later be reused for "Us and Them" from The Dark Side of the Moon.

All you dedicated Floyd collectors will no doubt recognise this track as a version of Careful With That Axe Eugene.

Outer cover:

The original laminated Garrod Lofthouse sleeve is in very good condition, the laminate has some slight creasing to it , but all edges remain undamaged and no splitting with a good glossy finish still visible.

Free from any unwanted writing, scuffing, some very slight edge ware but the spine is not damaged and still fully readable.

The back of the outer sleeve has some slight ageing but is still clean. See Picture.

Vinyl labels:

both labels show very, very little signs of usage, no scuffing, and only the slight whisper of spindle marking or any other damage. See pictures.

The inner sleeve is a plain white polly sleeve which has remained with the album from the day I bought it.

The vinyl playing surfaces look almost un-played and have a very very high glossy finish.

Play Grading:

On playing this entire album I could not find fault apart from the odd slight pop that could be just due to needing a good cleaning, I say this as the vinyl dose look in almost mint condition.

All in all I grade this whole package as Excellent + for the vinyl and very good for the outer sleeve.

I am sorry to say my camera dose not do this album justice but I have done the best I can, I doubt if the winning bidder will be disappointed with this album.
