THE WHO

Title : Live At Leeds     Label : Track   Catalogue No : 2406 001

Matrix : 2406 001 A1//B1    Issue : UK Earliest Complete 1st Press

This is the rare UK 1st Press of 'Live At Leeds' by The Who. This is a genuine 1st press with the earliest black text sleeve. It has the original inserts, including the rare Marquee poster, which are printed on the earliest light paper and the print quality is much finer than the later red and blue text issues. These inserts are unique to this rare first press. The vinyl has the earliest A1//B1 matrix and the essential and exceptionally rare hard flat edge. The record is in the original polylined inner sleeve.

The record is in Very Good+ condition. The vinyl is exceptionally glossy, there is no whitening of the grooves or significant wear at all. The record is jet black with a stunning high gloss, with a few light hairline marks and one light mark on Side B . When played the sound is bold, rich and exceptionally vibrant. There are some moments of noise but these are insignificant and do not affect the enjoyment of the album at any point. The label is crisp white with vivid blue text, the earliest blue turquoise shade, not as green as later presses and there is absolutely no spindle wear. The record is complete with the original inner sleeve.

The 1st press only original inserts are in Excellent condition. They are completely clean, bright and the edges are firm. The type is that of an original typewriter and the guitar photo is printed in lightweight folded paper with sharp dark blue (not black as in the later issues) biro. The photo is on glossy card, this does have some pin marks but is totally original to this press. All text and images are sharp and well printed unlike the later lower quality reproductions. The most noticeable difference are the two earliest yellow paper inserts. These are almost always printed on white or bright yellow thick paper, especially 'The High Numbers' commission slip, but this album is complete with the two earliest yellow paper inserts with sharp typewriter text and a bold black 'premier talent associates inc' stamp. It has the rare Marquee poster in perfect condition.

The cover is in Very Good condition. The black text is sharp and there are no scuffs of any kind. There is some spine wear and a few spine creases. The inside is very solid with a small name in the corner. The whole sleeve is clean and bright.
