The Wall is a rock opera presented as a double album by the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd, released in late 1979. It was subsequently performed live, with elaborate theatrical effects, and made into a film!!!.
Following in the footsteps of their previous albums, The Wall is a concept album - specifically, it deals largely with the theme of isolation from one's peers. The concept was largely inspired by the band's 1977 tour promoting the album Animals, with regards to an incident where Roger Waters' frustration with the audience reached a point where Waters spat in the face of a fan who was attempting to climb on stage; this, in turn, led him to lament that such a wall exists. With its significantly darker theme, The Wall featured a notably harsher and more theatrical sound than their previous releases!
In 1977, Pink Floyd were promoting Animals with their In The Flesh tour. On the final night of the tour in Montreal, Canada, Waters spat in the face of a fan who was trying to climb over the netting between the audience and the stage, and get up with the band. The incident later helped inspire Waters to develop the idea of The Wall. The album was recorded at four studios over eight months, owing to English tax laws and to benefit from the cheaper recording costs in the South of France. Tensions between Waters and the band were increasing significantly, largely to do with his dominance over the rest of the band. During the recording, Waters dismissed Richard Wright, and told him to leave immediately after The Wall was finished, arguing that Wright was not contributing much, in part owing to a cocaine addiction. Waters claimed that David Gilmour and Nick Mason had supported his decision to fire Wright, but in 2000, Gilmour stated that he and Mason were against Wright's dismissal. In his book Inside Out, Nick Mason claims that Wright was fired because Columbia Records had offered Waters a substantial bonus to finish the album in time for a 1979 release. Since Wright refused to return early from his summer holiday, Waters wanted to dismiss Wright. However, he returned for their live performances as a paid musician!!!.
For "Another Brick in the Wall (Part II)", Pink Floyd needed to record a school choir, so they approached music teacher Alun Renshaw of Islington Green School, around the corner from their Britannia Row Studios. The chorus was overdubbed twelve times to give the impression that the choir was larger. The choir were not allowed to hear the rest of the song after singing the chorus. Though the school received a lump sum payment of £1000, there was no contractual arrangement for royalties. Under 1996 UK copyright law, they became eligible, and after choir members were tracked down by royalties agent Peter Rowan of RBL Music, through the website Friends Reunited, they sued. Music industry professionals estimated that each student would be owed around £500!
The album's overriding themes are the causes and implications of self-imposed isolation, symbolized by the metaphorical wall of the title. The album's songs create a very loose storyline sketching events in the life of the protagonist, Pink. Pink loses his father as a child (Waters's own father was killed in Anzio during World War II), is smothered by his overprotective mother, and is oppressed at school by tyrannical, abusive teachers, each of these traumas becoming "another brick in the wall"!!. As an adult Pink becomes a rock star, but his relationships are marred by infidelity and outbursts of violence. As his marriage crumbles, Pink finishes building the wall and completes his isolation from human contact!!!!..
!.
The Wall is a rock opera that centres on the character "Pink". Largely based on Waters' personal life, Pink struggles in life from an early age, having lost his father in war ("Another Brick in the Wall (Part 1)"), abused by teachers ("The Happiest Days of Our Lives"), nurtured by an overprotective mother ("Mother"), and deserted by his wife later on ("Don't Leave Me Now") - all of which factored into Pink's mental isolation from society, figuratively referred to as "The Wall" !!!!.

IMPORTANT NOTE! From my personal experiance the earliest mother stampers make all the difference for the best audio quality! Later stampers produce a more incipede\bland sound!, The audio on this album is truly TOP! TOP! ON ALL FREQUENCIES!
The Vinyls
Both vinyls look awesome and lay perfectly flat on the turntable and are free of any warping.
The Vinyls
It is quite obvious that on initial inspection that these vinyls look almost as new, and it is very dificult to see that these have ever been played at all! It is in fact very hard to see a blemish on the playing surfaces at all!! Any marks that could be possibly be seen looked under strong light would be light whyspy sleeve removal marks only! In fact both vinyls look and sound like they have only ever been played one or two times ever!!! Try to find better 1st issue after 28 years!! Points to note!! These vinyls have been stored seperately in poly sleeves during its storage life which has preserved these vinyls all of these years this is how i have always stored my vinyls!!!!!
It is all to easy to be critical about 70s vinyls but the audio quality on these will be hard to surpass!!! Please allow for static on these 70s vinyls which is very common. The fact that these original vinyls are in virtually unplayed condition makes the difference for the best audio quality available on these pressings!!!!! THIS AUDIO WILL BE HARD TO SURPASS!!!!
The Audio Quality
I have very carefully listened and played these vinyls at very loud volume on a top system prior to listing on a top system! The first important thing to note is that there is absolutely no distortion and the audio is cristal clear and vibrant throughout, with unsurpassable stereo seperation!! There is (no) loud pops and certainly (no) skips or jumps at all! Perhapes the odd light static ticks evedent in very very few and quiet places but amaisingly I heard non of the normal background static crackle so common on these pressings during the main audio, even when new!! I would say that for the most part that all four sides, during the main audio, played very very near perfect throughout!!! I will grade the audio as at least excellent , and for the most part during the main audio very near mint in my opinion!!
I would class myself as highly critical when it comes down to the audio quality, It has always been my prime objective when collecting vinyls that are pressed from the earliest stampers! Please look at my completed listings of records that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that I normally get it right!!
Please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd light static ticks (not consistant throughout the audio only heard perhapes in very quiet places in between tracks or possibly during a quiet into of some tracks) Please remember that these are genuine 30 year old vinyls that would have originally been played on 30 year old systems!!!
Important note! These vinyls have been stored in a case for at least 25 years laying dormant all of this time! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves from laying dormant, causes static crackle\ticks! A constant clean before each play is recomended! Please note! I had noticed debrit on the playing surface after play! A constant clean before play will reduce any static and will enhance the audio quality!!!
The Labels
All four are awesome (no) nasty marks and are extreemely clean look as new in my opinion I can just barely see that this has even been played! in fact I can just about see two or three spider marks on the labels!!! If it has it would only be two or three times if that!!! Quite unbeleivable for a 30 year old original 1st press!!! (no) spindleware the holes are perfectly round!! SEE THE CLOSE UPS IN THE PHOTOS THIS IS SO RARE TO FIND ON EARLIEST ISSUES!!!!
The inner record sleeves.
These are the original 1st press lyric sleeves ) feature the cataloge numbers (only early press!! Top examples!!!Must be at least excellent! All vinyls are stored seperately from these sleeves, in poly lined sleeves!
The Cover
This is the original ((1st issue))) unlaminated gatefold cover! features slightly missalighned bricks at the front and rear of the cover! (only 1st issues) Also importantly on the inside of the gatefold features ''Words and Music Roger Waters (except waters Gilmour)'' in the same box\brick (only 1st UK issue) later issues, thisd text was changed! Very Very hard to find in this condition!! (no) real creases to mention Hardly any storageware or ringware you have to look hard for any!!Only if scrutinised in strong light can any small inobtrusive rubbing be seen and very light storageware indeed (hardly noticable)! You really have to look for them (no) rubbing at the edges and sharp corners!!! Lovely and clean!!(An important feature is that there is barely any yellowing with age this is generally lovely and white!! More importantly (no) ringware as the vinyls have been stored seperate from the cover all these years to prevent this!!! THIS IS HOW I ALWAYS HAVE STORED MY ALBUMS!!!THIS IS COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL ''WALL'' PERSPEX STICKER (NORMALLY LOST) AND WERE ONLY FOUND ON THE EARLIEST PRESSINGS!!ADDS TO THE MEGA RARETY OF THIS AWESOME SOUNDING ALBUM!!! This must be at least excellent\excellent plus if not better!!(original authentic UK 1st issue gatefold!!!
The 'Wall' pespex sticker
