Pink Floyd : The Dark Side Of The Moon A-3 / B-2 2nd Press + Posters & Stickers
This very early second pressing plays to a very high standard with only minimal intrusion and that is restricted to the end of S1 where there is a little crackle. Aside from that this classic album plays with a clarity, depth, warmth and power that you rarely find and the original sonic quality is still very much in evidence. There are no clicks or pops and barely any static, it really is a very clean pressing. The vinyl does have some hairlines but they do not affect the stunning audio and the labels have a little marking around each spindle hole.
The 'midnight blue' G & L gatefold remains in excellent condition and it has retained its original shape and structure so well over the last 50+ years. The two posters are in excellent shape overall and the two Crack Back stickers have just one crease each. I'm not sure if the black inner sleeve is original but it does have the correct Patent No / Made in Great Britain on it in silver so who knows! It definitely has a new poly-lining inside. A superb 'package' overall!

Visual description
The vinyl is in very good condition but still has a strong glossy look and no obvious marks or scratches. Yes there are some hairlines and a couple of very small faint blemishes but they are purely superficial as they have no impact on the audio. In 'normal' lighting the vinyl is actually in superb condition and literally nothing stands out! There is no groove wear or bag 'rash' either. There are three small black marks around the spindle hole on the S1 label and some faint writing in the same place around the S2 label but they are otherwise in excellent shape with barely any spindle wear on S1 and a little more on S2.
Play grading
The iconic heartbeat intro on 'Speak To Me' plays with incredible clarity which is so rare as we all know! Just a couple of barely audible statics but there is no obvious background at all, it is stunning. As it builds the the audio is so strong and deep and the 'spoken' section / Torry 'climax' plays with genuine precision also. I'm tempted to say Mint but I will grade as Mint- just to err on the side of caution.
The segue into 'Breathe' is faultless and the entire intro then plays 'as new' no exaggeration. The clarity and warmth of the audio is exceptional and Gilmour's opening vocal section is equal to that. It continues in the same way with a sonic quality that is second to none. This is Mint in every way.
'On The Run' also plays with such strong, deep and clean audio with barely any intrusion. The opening section is perfect and you can hear every footstep and breath so clearly. It progresses in the same precise way with outstanding depth and resonance and the crash at the end could hardly 'play' any better, there is no distortion. The 'running man' section has no intrusion, 3/4 mega quiet statics that is all, and overall Mint- is deserved for this classic instrumental.
The clocks intro on 'Time' has no background and the metronome section just has a hint of barely audible static at the start. It then plays with exceptional clarity with no ticks, clicks or pops and barely any static. The first verse and chorus from Gilmour and Wright respectively play to perfection and the mid solo keeps up this fine standard. Perhaps just a hint of distortion but it is so minor, hardly worth a mention really. The final verse / chorus have no interference and Near Mint is a fair assessment of the audio here. A superb version.
'Breathe Reprise' plays with stunning precision with just one minor static sound right at the end. Mint-
The gentle piano intro on 'The Great Gig In The Sky' plays very clearly with only a handful of very quiet statics at the beginning and the 'spoken' section has only a minor amount of light static which is hardly intrusive. Torry's opening vocal is incredible and there is no distortion on the top end. The power and depth on this vocal is on another level and as the volume decreases the audio is so clean with barely any static and the next quieter vocal is similar. There is some obvious crackle towards the end which is unfortunate so I will grade that piece as VG but the preceding audio has to be Near Mint- in my opinion.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The cash register / bass intro on 'Money' plays perfectly and the first two verses are just as strong and clear. The instrumental section beginning with the sax solo plays with sublime quality all the way through and 'as new' sums it up. Once again the power and definition of the audio is STUNNING and Gilmour's solos and Waters' deep bass adds so much to the sonic quality. The final vocal / spoken section have no background and from start to finish this classic has to grade as Mint
The intro on 'Us And Them' has just a little light static but still plays so clearly and as Mason and co join in there is barely any, the clarity is stunning. The first sax section plays beautifully and the opening vocal section is on the same level with zero background. The first chorus is just as impressive and the power and depth of the audio is jaw-droppingly superb! The sound resonates so powerfully around the room and the next verse is as good with only one mega light tick. The following chorus is perfect and the instrumental passage is equal to that, the high octane section at the end is breath-taking! The remainder plays to the same exact standard and overall I have to say Near Mint although it has to be said the majority is better than that! 'Any Colour You Like' plays with genuine quality through every section. For once there is barely any 'static' on the guitar section and the sonic quality is superb. Near Mint
The intro on 'Brain Damage' has no background and Water's opening vocal has no ticks, clicks etc. As the volume the power and depth on the audio is sensational! The production values are of course so highly regarded on the first and early pressings and you can see why when listening to this! The original sonic quality is still very much in evidence and it continues to play to the same high end standard to the very end. No issues here whatsoever and Mint- is richly deserved.
'Eclipse' ends the album in fine style with great quality throughout. If there is any inner groove distortion it is so so minimal and by turning it up to max the playback is still superb. The heartbeat ending is very clean with barely any static, definitely one of the best I have heard in many years. I will grade as Near Mint - a stunning finish for sure.
The Gatefold, Posters & Stickers & Inner Sleeve
The iconic cover is in excellent condition with only light shelf wear and there is nothing that stands out. The edges are extremely clean as is the spine which only has a small amount of wear on the top corner. The other corners are in great shape with hardly any wear and the opening edge has no obvious handling wear either. The 'midnight blue' front cover is very clean with barely any of the fading around the edges that you so often see and it has just one small corner crease top right, a faint crease on the right side and just minor rubbing by the right edge. The back cover is very similar with only light ringwear and the inside of the gatefold is in superb order with just one minor crimp next to the inner spine but there is no marking at all. A very strong example overall and very impressive for an A3/B2 pressing.
The two posters are in excellent shape although the pyramid one does have some cellotape in each corner for some reason. Neither of them have any rips or tears. The band one is not as glossy as the pyramid one so I don't know if they were together originally but who knows what went on in the packing factory! The two Crack Back stickers are in excellent condition with only a corner crease on each of them.
As stated I'm not sure if this is the original black inner but regardless of that it is in great condition with no side splits or marking and has just one minor 'nick' on one edge. A separate poly-ling has been placed inside.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
