PINK FLOYD, ‘ATOM HEART MOTHER’ A SECOND UK ISSUE STEREO LP IN GATEFOLD SLEEVE – SHVL 781.
Released by EMI/Harvest UK, this second issue UK Vinyl LP is on the Harvest Record Labels, with Gramophone Co Ltd label rim, EMI Box and with Made in Gt. Britain label text to both sides.
Both record labels are in outstanding Mint Minus condition. Beautiful undamaged record labels showing nothing more than a couple of signs of play to each label.
The official Side 1 Matrix: SHVL 781 A-3., Side 2 Matrix: SHVL 781 B-3. Side 1 stampers: 1 R and Side 2: 1 RP.
Both sides of the vinyl LP are in beautiful Mint Minus condition, the vinyl surfaces look immaculate with nothing more than a couple of faint hairlines.
Audio Quality:
The LP plays beautifully well throughout the tracks without any skips or clicks or noise.
The Vinyl LP comes in its original Excellent condition EMI Harvest advertising polythene lined inner bag.
And is housed in it’s original first issue picture sleeve. This album cover shows a very ordinary cow standing in a very ordinary pasture, with no text nor any other clue as to what might be on the record. (Some later editions have the title and artist name added to the cover.) This concept was the group's reaction to the psychedelic "space rock" imagery associated with Pink Floyd at the time of the album's release; the band wanted to explore all sorts of music without being limited to a particular image or style of performance. They thus requested that their new album have "something plain" on the cover, which ended up being the image of the cow. Storm Thorgerson, inspired by Andy Warhol's famous "cow-wallpaper", has said that he simply drove out into a rural area near Potters Bar and photographed the first cow he saw. The cow's owner identified her name as "Lulubelle III". Three cows appear on the back cover (again, with no text or titles), and more cows on the inside gatefold.
The gatefold picture sleeve is a very nice example in Excellent Plus condition, there is no tearing or seam splits with just mild handling signs to the front and back and mild corner bumps. The gatefold centre of the sleeve is in Excellent Plus condition.
