Description
Animals A2/B3 (very early pressing)
The A2/B2 first pressings were produced in relatively low numbers and as the A2/B3 ones were produced at the same time they are generally considered as first pressings also.

The audio on both sides is Ex (Ex+ in many sections)
The gatefold cover is Ex-
The lyric inner is Ex- The labels are Mint
Visual grading
The vinyl is exceptionally clean and only has a few very faint hairlines. There is almost no spindle wear so this vinyl has obviously been hardly played and it still has a lovely glossy lustre. There are no scratches to be seen. Visually it is stunning if I'm honest.
Play grading
There is no lead in static prior to 'Pigs on the Wing1' starting and it then plays with stunning audio with only a couple of dust ticks. A great start to this often underrated LP. 'Dogs' continues this quality although there are a couple of light clicks during the first two minutes. The remainder of the track has high quality audio and really is an excellent listen. There is a great depth to the sound and I heard only a handful of light clicks during this long track. As is always the case on the early pressings the ending however does play with a little distortion.
'Pigs (Three Different Ones)' begins superbly with barely any interference. The quality continues with just some light static in the background here and there. There are four clicks towards the end but that is the only real negative. The quieter sections play very well and for a vinyl of 40 years it is of excellent quality. The very quiet intro to 'Sheep' plays beautifully with barely any background static. The remainder of the track plays very well with just some light intermittent static, very much in the background though. 'Pigs On The Wing2' ends the side with excellent audio and only very minor static, no clicks.
Gatefold cover
The G & L gatefold cover is in excellent condition with only minor shelf wear. The edges and corners do have some rubbing but is not excessive and there is a little rubbing on the spine also. The inside of the gatefold is very clean and has no spotting/marking at all. The back cover has minor wear on the opening edge and a few small creases around the edges.
It has no bar code as per the early pressings and also has the front edge of the gatefold sealed with a foldunder. In the lower right corner, it says "Made and printed in Great Britain 7701 TM Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd."
Lyric sleeve
The cardboard lyric inner has the rounded corners as per the first pressings. It only has one small split on the bottom edge and a few light creases. It has the 9-inch thumb notch on the edge with the catalogue number 'SHVL 815(I) in the lower right corner'.
Labels
They are in superb order with hardly any spindle wear and no marking.
