A tremendous 60's psychedelic album in lovely shape.
Having shrugged off the seriously damaged protagonist and band leader Syd Barrett, the group were probably wondering how or if they could manage to continue where he was left off. His former genius had clearly fallen and couldn't get up, the bright spark sadly snuffed out to a pale darkened void. LSD had destroyed his youthful spirit.
Roger Waters and Rick Wright were not going to wilt though, and here they took up the freak flag! Compositions are varied and wonderful, vocally and instrumentally intense and imaginative. If anything it was a leap forward, and there's no questioning "have you got it yet?"
It's special to find the original issue in this condition, and the highly sought MONO issues are much rarer for this release.
An elusive landmark UK album that's a revelation on the ears!
CONDITION;
The VINYL is with lovely shine, It is visually NEAR MINT.
However there's an anomaly in this pressing, as there's clear 'travel' hiss between tracks and on the quieter intros.
There's no distortion to the sound, so it's not been played with a bad needle, more likely it was from the initial pressing. It must be downgraded to EXCELLENT overall.
Labels are in EXCELLENT condition, a small sticker shadow only on side 1
The LAMINATED SINGLE SLEEVE 'FLIPBACK' COVER grades VG, the laminate has some scratches and a light line, perhaps from when it was made.
