GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie vengono controllati sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i i 33 giri in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1. Per EP e singoli a 45 giri utilizzo un Thorens TD 166 BC con testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All LPs in auction have been fully heard on a Rega Planar 3 turntable with a Grado Statement 1 moving magnet cartridge. I listen EPs and singles 45 rpm. on a Thorens TD 166 BC turntable with a Goldring 1006 MM cartridge. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : prima colonna sonora di Piero Piccioni per un film western. Genere che ancora non conosceva bene ma nessuno s'allarmi: il disco è molto interessante e godibile. Arduo dire se già conosceva la musica di "Per un Pugno di Dollari" dato che questo film arrivò nelle sale cinematografiche soltanto due mesi prima di "Minnesota Clay". Sta di fatto che niente della bellissima musica di Morricone è presente in maniera palese o nascosta in questa colonna sonora. Per questo film Piccioni elaborò composizioni prive quasi completamente di quell'alone epico in cui solitamente strumenti come la tromba o la chitarra venivano messi in forte rilievo. Sembra così prediligere atmosfere drammatiche e di tensione con andamenti sonori sapientemente misurati. Album raro, prezioso per i collezionisti ma anche e soprattutto con buona musica.

Notes : first soundtrack by Piero Piccioni for a western movie. Genre at that time not well known to him but no one be alarmed this album is very interesting and enjoyable. Hard to say if he already knew the music of "A Fistful of Dollars" as this film was released in cinemas just two months before of "Minnesota Clay". The fact is that nothing of the Morricone’s beautiful music is present openly or concealed in this soundtrack. For this film Piccioni elaborated compositions almost completely devoid of an epic aura wherein usually instruments such as the trumpet or guitar were strongly in foreground. He prefers dramatic and distressing atmospheres with wisely measured musical developments. Rare album, valuable for collectors but also and above with good music.
