1968 UK 1st *MONO* PRESSING DOUBLE LP
**W I D E SPINE COVER No.0271450**
This 100% complete 1st mono copy comprises: top opening cover, black inners, poster, photos, white spacer and 1/G, 1/G stampers for disc 2.
This copy features the rare 10mm 'Wide' spine.
This rare UK mono first pressing on the dark green Apple labels: PMC 7067/8
All labels carry the 'Sold in UK..' text and 'Apple Records...' rim texts.
The labels on disc 1 omit the 'An E.M.I. Recording' statement but the disc 2 labels includes it.
There is no tax/price code is visible on any label.
House in a fully laminated top loading W I D E spine 'Garrod & Lofthouse' mono cover, numbered: No.0271450.
This rare sleeve variant has a spine measuring 10mm across as opposed to regular 6/7mm spines.
Complete with original matt black inners, matt 'Garrod & Lofthouse' poster, four 'thick' card colour photos & white paper spacer.
Matrix numbers: XEX 709-1, 710-1, 711-1, 712-2
Stamper numbers: 1/HR, 3/HH, 1/G, 1/G
Cover: EXCELLENT MINUS
Although the card has yellowed considerablely, this rare cover retains an unscratched and clean front laminate.
All corners are in fine shape and bear just light storage wear but no 'bumps'. The top opening edge is clean and sharp with only minor wear.
The laminate around the embossed 'The Beatles' wording is completely intact and the individual number; No.0271450, is bold and clear.
The rear panel is excellent as is the inside gatefold which bears just a few small foxing spots but no other marks, indentations, or writing.
The wide spine is strong and unbent and retains a 100% full unsplit laminate so all the text is clean, undamaged and readable.
Disc 1 Labels: EXCELLENT PLUS
Visual: EXCELLENT
Both surfaces are very clean and bright, undulled by groove-wear or 'bag rash' and retain their deep gloss shines.
Under a halogen desk lamp side 2 bears just 1 very feint mark together with a few sleeve removal hairlines but no scratches or other marks.
Totally 100% flat on the turntable with no dishing or warping.
Audio: VERY GOOD PLUS
Loud and bright balanced mono sound with some light groovewear on the 1st track and on the extreme loud peaks.
A touch of low-level background is audible between tracks on side 1 but fine overall with no clicks, hiss, jumps or repeats anywhere.
Visual: VERY GOOD PLUS
Again the surfaces are bright and clean bearing just a few light surfaces scuffs and minor sleeve removal blemishes but no major faults.
Totally 100% flat on the turntable with no dishing or warping.
Audio: EXCELLENT
A superb sounding disc with clear, clean and fresh sound on all tracks with no crackle or groovewear distortion whatsoever.
There are a few 'ticks' audible at the end of 'Cry Baby Cry' into 'Revolution #9' but otherwise no other audible faults.
