Perth County Conspiracy-The Perth County Conspiracy Does Not Exist, CBC, LM 85, 1970.
Canadian/broadcast radio-only acid folk/psych holy grail that predates the group’s Columbia Records of Canada long player and features unique recordings (three covers and strong original material) unavailable elsewhere. Pressed in low (approx. 250) quantities and only distributed to CBC radio stations in Canada (there was no commercial issue of the album and it wasn’t stocked at retail record stores at the time of production). The LP did received limited broadcast-only play in the early 1970s and was later rediscovered by the likes of West Coast heads/record dealers Plasticloud and Citizenfreak in the 1990s. Recent copies (like the recent VG graded vinyl at $547 US, this album has sold as high as $1300 US in the past) have fluttered out because of the decommissioning of CBC music libraries across Canada, but have no doubt, the Perth County Conspiracy Does Not Exists LM Series’ release is as scarce of an album as they come. No hype. I am a serious collector of this sound (and happy to release a rare spare into the world). Can’t imagine many more of these trading hands outside of deep collector circles or vinyl vendors lucky enough to stumble across an elusive copy. Any which way, enjoy one of Canada’s most intriguing psychedelic artifacts w/ music to match. Heavy vibrations. Cover: VG+(+) (3 station ID stickers and 1 piece of tape on spine, a few small pen marks, some ring, corner/edge wear, and general patina, still very presentable)
Vinyl: VG+ (1 ID sticker on each label same size as the cover stickers, many surface marks/including a few larger ones, a few clusters of grit marks (mostly affecting “Lace And Cobwebs,” and “I Shall Be Released,” and 1 small pressing blister on “If You Can Wait,” plays well overall w/ occasional surface noise/light pops in places, still enjoyable)
