SUPERB 1969 psychedelia from People, "Both Sides of People" on the Capitol label. Their finest and most sought-after album, and the one where they explored many different areas of trippy psychedelia, like the mellow West Coast head psych of "You'll Never Know", which recalls Mad River and Spirit. Or the garagey punker "Hey Sweetheart", which weds soulful Iron Butterfly vocal stylings to TRIPLE tracked FUZZ guitars! And the Eastern hash pipe psych zones of "Lucky John", with its wah wah guitar and cool sitar, it's a bit like Mandrake Memorial or the Head Shop. Here's what the psychedelic bible Fuzz Acid and Flowers has to say about this album - "By the second album Larry Norman had left the group, but it still contains several of his compositions. Like their first album, their sound is somewhat similar to Iron Butterfly, but quirkier, with lots of Hammond organ to the fore. Their vocal harmonies sometimes make you think of Vanilla Fudge, but the group make it all part of their own sound. Both Sides Of People covers many styles (there's even a country song!), and on this album there's more excellent guitar work than on their first. Side two is particularly excellent, with only three tracks, the first of which, Lucky John, contains some sitar, and some snakey fuzz. She's A Dancer contains great wah-wah and searing fuzz. Lastly Pirate Bill is another example of their humourous style, and somewhat reminiscent of parts of The Epic." Original Capitol label pressing from 1969, Cover has minor seam wear and very light splits, no ring wear, grades EXCELLENT. Vinyl plays EXCELLENT as well, real nice.
