Description

Original 1966 Blind Lemon Jefferson, Robert Johnson & more Folkways LP

Title: The Country Blues. (Rare Blues songs from The 20's and 30's)

Original Folkways 1966 LP "The Country Blues".  Record includes songs recorded in the late 1920'a and early 1930's–many recorded from the original vinyl records and acetates from major blues collectors. Includes "Matchbox Blues" by Blind Lemon Jefferson (later recorded in the 50's and 60's by Carl Perkins and The Beatles), Rare version of Robert Johnson's "Preachin' Blues" which has a similar guitar riff as Muddy Waters' 1947 song "Can't Be Satisfied" and the original recording of "Walk Right In" by The Cannon's Stompers, "Fixin' To Die" sounds like a Richie Havens recording, a few sound like Grateful Dead recordings. Also a great recording of Statesboro Blues by Blind Willie McTell. Vinyl is VG++, nice sound, very glossy and clean, some pops, not many, no skips. Cardboard cover with insert pocket is in VG+++, very clean, bright colors, nice spine, very sturdy (see photos). Also included is a multiple page insert with historical comments about the blues musicians and this recording. The insert is in NM+ condition.

A very rare item for Blues Historians collectors.
