Old Antique PEROPHONE GRAMOPHONE WITH HORN 78 RPM Record Phonograh in Oak 


Oak Perophone Gramophone with Horn. With Perfecta Perophone transducer. The base measures 12 1/2" square. The horn measures 15 1/2 across it's opening, and 18" long.   In working order, plays music. This needs some tinkering as the platter sits higher than the brake pad on the left. The speed currently starts and stops by the speed control mechanism on the right, as there seems to be a brake built in to the spring mechanism unit inside. The right mechanism is working as increase, decrease and stop. This may mean the inside spring mechanism inside may or may not be the original, as I would think the left brake would be the only stop mechanism. The spring is good, and the winder works fine. Great for a store display, etc. The gramophone is playing fine. The cabinet is good and solid all around, but for the underside center base panel has a crack - see photo.  Condition/sold as shown.


"Perophone gramophones were a product of the Vernon Lockwood Manufacturing Company Limited of City Road, London England, which had previously made player pianos.

A new company, Perophone Limited, was registered in about 1908. Their trademark was a greyhound backed by a large letter "L", maintaining the Lockwood connection."
