Hello and welcome to my auction
This is a Genuine 2001 original Strut UK pressing of the 2001 Triple Vinyl LP album, 'Nigeria 70: The Definitive Sound of 1970's Funky Lagos' - catalogue no: STRUTLP013 .
This is all original. the vinyl is in excellent + (like the day i bought it) condition apart from shudder scuff on side B (see photos and notes below.) , it has a substantial and pretty stiff outer sleeve, a stiff wide spine to accomodate the three discs and is complete with nice essay spread across the tracks on the inside (with small colour photos of the artists and three papers containing the vinyl.
The vinyl itself is nice and thick.
Sleeve is Ex-/VG+ its a wide spine desiged for multi records.(see photos_) .
I've played these discs maybe twice and not all the way through.

• side A/B/C/D/E/F - Ex-/VG-/Ex/Ex/Ex/Ex .... Apart from those tiny twizzled hairs you get drawn by static and some very small areas of light radial glance papaer scuff, the vinyl is in excellent shape - the surfaces of C/D/E and F look really good on the whole .side A has a bit more speckle scuff on than the oteehrs but is still clean Side B has shudder scuffing on track one...its quite noticeable (see photo below) there is also some light radial paper scuff on the outer edge of track 1...I can't tell if and how it would affect playback but i suspect its not deep like a scratch.
• Sleeve - VG+ or Ex- generally tight and bright ..must e taken in the context of it being a large thick sleeve.. a bit of corner buff, and a pinch crease from the bottom to quarter of th way up the back of the second slot a corner pinch crease on the rear right-hand top corner. a bit of disc relief on back of sleeve - expected as this has two discs in. a vague hint of a dusky arc on rear.
  pretty good on the aperture.
• inner sleeves - papaer sleeves nice and crisp and white.a bit of creasing, but this was manufactured like that.

This compilation is imposing both physically and musically..its has three discs and one suspects they would try for another if they could fit it in.
This is another album that is a jewel as it could easily have not happened..the mastering here is really great...rescuing as it does..music that could so easily have been lost in the heat..its described as a project in the credits...which is a better description..
the number of thanks gives testament to level of collaboration that took place to get it off the ground.
some of the artists were hard to track down again, some had died.some were working normal jobs for little money..i think this adds to the power of the music because you get the sense they originally did it for the love of it.
I think this is another compilation (compilation doesn't really do it justice) whose involvement included Duncan Brooker, he of Afro-rock ..another album I'm selling.
this could be described as a sister album to it..same kind of approach...same ideals..and it funks just as raw and hard..
i think you could argue that it is a product of recent times, in a good way...the appreciation of deeper music and hence the search for the real missing music by fanatics who are able to finance the trip thanks to small record companies like Strut and can seek out what is up until that point, lost music.

I'm starting this at £3.00 and with no reserve, this is going to give everyone a look in and hopefully increase the chances of an auction

Notes on record surface assessment

Please take your time to look at the photos below as I think most of the description is in them. Note: Due to the record being circular and the refractive nature of the grooves on the disc, it is actually pretty hard to photograph the surface fully..I've done my best; taking care to use fairly strong Halogen source and angling of the disc.
there are two types of aberrations...and these can generally be seen in two types of light..incidental light will show up more of the scratches which might affect playback quality, whilst direct light will show up more of the paper scuffing...that very light , almost superficial and generalised marking from two records being in proximity to each other in a record box (the action through the paper sleeve), and very often there's no way around this. this type of marking has no effect on the playback quality of the record.. I didn't really give the record a wipe over so any twizzled hair-like artefacts you might spot in the photos are hair-like artefacts; usually lint or fibres..what I will do is point out any marks or scratches in the description.

Grading

As a guideline to help you, I'll stick roughly to this grading system. where I show something like NM/VG- - it refers to Vinyl condition/Sleeve condition

Although i don't play the records to grade them, by and large they have been played only a few times, and i try to give them a grading based on a careful look.
(note: i don't believe in giving NM status - as this gives the impression that it has just left the shop, when I prefer to be slightly critical if anything)

• Mint Vinyl- unused unplayed still sealed/ sleeve - same
• Near mintVinyl - evidence of being removed and played but hardly noticeable
  - could pass for new/ Sleeve - maybe the slightest sign of handling if you really looked for it.
  
• Ex (and gradations thereof) - Vinyl - tiniest wear, maybe one or two light brush marks in vinyl under reflected daylight but you'd have to look for it - obviously only been played less than about 6 times (Ex-)/ Sleeve - very straight sleeve - maybe miniscule amount of buffing on corners only - no creasing or ringwear visible.
• VG (and gradations thereof) Vinyl - maybe one or two light brush marks - and light scratching - nothing that would diminish the audio playing/Sleeve- light buffing on corners , perhaps small amount of creasage in sleeve, light buff marks on edges - but nothing consistent.
• G (and gradations thereof) - more scratches in evidence, maybe a light scratch which can be seen without strong light, and especially without reflected light. speckle scratching - which would be evidence of enduring light abrasion - as if on inner sleeve. audio - although listenable - occasional crackles in evidence caused by physical profile of surface. probably been played at least 60-70 times. Sleeve - ringwear in evidence - maybe shabby edges and definitely some buffing maybe short corner tears in evidence. inner would prbably either be yellowed at edges and possibly torn slightly at corner.nothing though that would compromise the vinyl. (i missed out grading for moderate conditions as one only needs to know if its worth bidding on or not, i feel - none of my albums fall into the moderate or crap categories.)
• Cr (and gradations thereof) - vinyl - in advanced state of wear, scratches galore and advanced speckle scratching to the point where the needle would probably jump on occasion. - for completists and the curious mainly. would still play but listening would be pretty unpleasant Sleeve - falling apart at the seams - advanced ringwear and corners torn. maybe can see the vinyl edges through the sleeve. creasing or evidence of folding.

I'll ship this with a fluted stiffener and a quality 625 micron, side seamed record mailer with fragile and DO NOT BEND (in both English and your native language if outside English-speaking countries). I'm aware of the scam that is occurring where people are saying they have recevied the records broken and ask for a refund..i use the high quality packaging to avoid this.
I always obtain a certificate of postage and will remove the record from the sleeve to prevent any ringwear or abrasion.
